The Crown Inn at Roecliffe in Harrogate

Called in for lunch and received a very warm welcome.I had the hot beef sandwich and my husband the pork, they were both absolutely delicious.Lovely location, atmosphere and excellent service.Highly recommended.

What a lovely, friendly village pub in a beautiful setting. Tried the generous bar snack menu. Excellent sauvignon blanc, wish I could have had more. We will come back without the car!

Excellent stay. Great welcome, nothing too much trouble. We loved the food and the location. Perfect environment for some R & R. We loved the decor too. We will return.

Paul was a perfect host,answereing all our questions and serving our every need.Rooms were beautiful and spotlessly clean.Evening meals and breakfasts were very good with the chef coming out and talking to us after dinner and Jordon was equally good in the morning serving breakfast and very chatty.Only one night stay but was treated like royalty and could not fault anything.Thankyou all very much.

A very warm welcome from all the staff who are very friendly and efficient, giving great service with excellent food at reasonable prices, it is set amid a stunning village with a lovely walk available if you like that kind of thing as we do.

Absolutely spectacular!!! Had the most beautiful chicken and sweet potato dish honestly from a chefs view was 10/ 10. room is stunning and for filled every wish and more. Bar staff absolutely lovely 100% coming back!!!

Went for lunch recently. The food was poor, service slow and by the time the rest of the table had been served the first meals out were cold. Meals were served on cold plates to start with. The creme brûlée was served with a shortbread biscuit which turned out to be a lump of raw dough. The brûlée itself resembled a bowl of cold ambrosia custard. Overall very disappointing and one to be avoided.

Awful food, don’t go and if you do stay don’t eat. At a pre booked, pre ordered lunch event it started poor and went from bad to worse.A cold function room, with a damp musty smell, (clearly it hasn’t be used in a while) the service was slow and plates cold.Despite pre ordering, they served the room by meal rather than table, but with no plan this took a long time meaning by the time everyone had been served, the first plates (that weren’t hot to begin with) were stone cold.An over seasoned and salted gelatinous ham hock terrine to start. With a slab of mildly warm chiabatta.For main a grilled chicken breast, on a cold plate, some overcooked beans and a tarragon mousse that stood up on end and closer resembled soggy white bread with the taste of a bouquet of flowers.Dessert a flour (sorry, lemon) tart. Half raw pastry, and a lemon filling with a consistency closer to a bake well tart. You got a taste of flour and little else. All hidden by a lemon slice and a half melted red sorbet (flavour tbc!) but that was good fare compared to the Creme Brûlée, which had the distinct taste of tinned ambrosia custard that had been chilled on the hope it would solidify. But the final treat was the accompanying shortbread biscuit, the dough still raw that you could roll it into a ball and cut out your own shapes ready for the oven. Something to take as a souvenir and bake at home perhaps?Overall a great disappointment for what was once an outstanding place to eat. Avoid at all costs!

Just few minutes off the a1m, in a quiet picturesque village. The rooms are well decorated and clean, the restaurant serves some lovely dishes. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend a stay there, and will return.

Nice downstairs room and bathroom. Very obliging receptionists. Leisure pool looked very inviting but as I was paying full rate for double room over the 4 nights, I have to take issue with the heating of the room. On arrival the bedroom was cold no radiator on, given a small fan heater to warm up. This seemed to be the normal proceedure the heating is switched off during the day. Not what you would expect in a Hotel of this standard. Tough on guests who wish to relax anytime in their room.
