The George Carvery in Harrogate

Absolutely fantastic hotel to stay at. David was so welcoming, friendly and attentive throughout our whole stay. One of the best hosts I have had the pleasure to stay with.Room was really cosy and spacious and the bed was very comfy.As for the food at the carvery... Wow... absolutely amazing. I was looking forward to the carvery since I made the booking and it did not disappoint. Big slices of meat and really tasty and fresh veggies to go with it.Will definitely be back in the future and I would highly recommend to everyone.Thanks again for a great stayEDIT: I forgot to mention the other staff were very friendly and helpful too, especially the waitress, I think her name was Jess... very polite, professional and nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely ambiance and food. David is incredibly friendly and we felt extremely comfortable during our stay. Will definitely come back here again.

Amazing food, carvery was delicious with loads of choice and self service which I prefer. Absolutely delightful staff, so welcoming, great service, we were very well looked after. Four stars rather than five as the toilets and seating area could have been nicer, but will definitely be coming back

Came in tonight the best carvery i have ever had drove all the way from liverpool absolutely excellent great service and a very sweet waitress this is going to be a regular weekly visit from me fully recommend this place ❤️ it xxxx

This is a fantastic place to eat. Beautiful food, excellent service from David. One of our party was Vegan and there was nothing too much trouble, they even prepared vegetables without the honey graze. We would definitely recommend it and we would visit again, if we did not live in Scotland. But if we are in the area we will. Over 55's get reduced rate on Thursdays.

Stopped in for lunch whilst out riding my motorcycle. They found me a table very quickly and had my coffee there by the time I had returned from the bathroom. Had carvery which was very nice and all the staff were polite. Well worth a visit and I will be popping in again if I'm over that way on a day out.

* Edit (Nov) - We don't live anywhere nearby but me and my partner have been here a number of times and always rated it as the best carvery. I think the food is amazing and the staff really friendly and accommodating, when we just turn up, when we happen to be in the area. It's what made this carvery so much better than the others. Today, however, we got point blank turned away from the building with a 'have you got a booking?' and 'we're fully booked. Have a good day'. While I think it's great for them that they are fully booked, for me what made this carvery better than the popular chain carvery (and others) has disappeared. I liked the fact that before they would do their best to fit you in, but today not even a bit of a wait. It's like what made this carvery better than the others has gone and it's just like the standard ones. We instead went to a different carvery a number of miles away. Would I visit this carvery again? Probably not as I don't really want to travel there and get turned away and as we don't live nearby booking would be more problematic as it would be harder to guarantee a time. Would I recommend this place to others? Yes, the food is good, but definitely book if you want to visit on a Sunday and don't expect the friendly, accomodating staff who appreciated every person and went out of their way for others.(Aug) Great carvery. We visit whenever we are in the area and always thoroughly enjoy our meal! Would recommend.

Lovely warm greeting from David & Keith, willing to assist in any way they can, the room was fantastic and everywhere was immaculate. We would highly recommend their carvery, lovely fresh veg and no dried out meat. Thank you!

Can't really go wrong. Good thick slices of meat and large tasty Yorkshire's. The veg wasnt frozen like many places either. Definitely would go again.

The carvery this place serves is one of the best I've ever had. The staff are lovely, the decor is very nice and it is an absolute bargain with children eating free. Definitely somewhere we shall eat again.
