Cooplands Secret Garden Cafe in Kingston upon Hull

I used to visit the Cooplands cafe on Paragon St but that has closed recently so had to go to the other one on Jameson St instead. Wish I hadn't bothered. Ordered an English breakfast that didn't include hash browns or black pudding. It was just egg, mushroom, 2 awful sausages, beans, tomato and toast. Why no black pudding or hash browns? Never had this issue when visiting the old one on Paragon St. It came to over £7 as well. Won't bother next time will find another cafe instead. Total waste of my time and money.

Extremely over priced for what you get, had to pay extra for mushrooms and beans and another slice of toast otherwise you only get bacon, egg, sausage and tomatoes with one slice of toast. Ended up costing over £20 for 2 basic breakfasts and instant coffee with frothy milk. Definitely won't be going back.

Always excellent. Food splendid, good service and a well-designed dining room, allowing plenty of space between tables. Ideal for special occasions

One of Hull's little secrets. A smart, tidy venue and pleasant staff. A decent breakfast for under £6.00. Enjoyed my experience so much, went back a week after my first visit.

Its always clean and the staff are friendly.We often take the granchildren as there is plenty if choice for them. The all day breakfast is excelent.

Waited ages for our toasted sandwich, and my one slice of ham sandwich for my daughter poorly presented, crisp given we’re out of date, staff didn’t care, didn’t even apologise! Waist of money 5 packets of crisps all out of date!

Good food. Excellent breakfast. Cleanliness of the cutlery can be a bit hit and miss though. Sometimes a problem at the Paragon St cafe too.

Friendly staff and a warm atmosphere,This is s lovely child friendly café with both stairs and a lift for access to prams and wheelchairs.

A lovely place to sit and eat whilst watching the world go by. Fast service and cheap. Jacket potato was lovely with beans and cheese.Will be popping in again very soon.

We Ladies wot Lunch thoroughly enjoyed this place.NB: so why only 1 star? They could not answer (and were somewhat disinterested), or produce the Allergen File which identifies which items (in this case deserts) were vegetarian or contained allergens, dangerous and I (tongue in cheek) suspect illegal.Accessibility - wide double electronic doors leading to the lift and stairs. Multi level platforms, one section level upstairs from the lift and to the counter.Car Park - the restaurant is in a pedestrianised area, we used the Prince's Quays.Menu - good variety for carnivores, cheese/egg largely for veggies. Mains had V symbol for the veggies, forget pudding, they just waved hand and none of them were veggie and could/would not produce allergen file. Being busy is not an excuse, some one's life might depend on it and every person counts!Toilets - includes for disabled.Staff - generally helpful and friendly, but totally disinterested and unable to provide file detailing what was vegetarian (puddings) or allergens. I asked for the card receipt, premptorily told 'you don't get receipts with card taps', I said, 'well I want one', so they went into the back to get one.
