Lounge Cafe Bar in Kingston upon Hull

I came to Indian Lounge, as it is now called, in a party of about 20 people. I'll definitely come back because the food was amazing, but next time as a couple or four because their organisation and coordination in serving the big group was a lot to be desired. I'm sure it is just teething trouble, though. The manager and front of house staff were diligent and friendly, the bar well stocked. From their festive menu I had a whitebait starter then an okra-based main with rice and roti, and it was all delicious.

We came yesterday 2.10.21 for our wedding anniversary lunch as we were regulars at Lounge before the closure and change of over of management and staff and were left disappointed.The menu was very basic, we ordered a starter each and a main and after over an hour it all turned up together !We had to ask for condiments at the bar and was told it would come and never did !!Then my husband had ordered scampi and chips and instead of it being scampi it was in fact squid!Now this would have made me ill or worse if I had have tried it thinking it was scampi as I have a severe mollusc allergy .When I brought this up with the waiter his response was “maybe for the best you didn’t eat it”!!We then went to the bar to pay and the manager who was a nice guy didn’t seem to understand the potential threat the wrong dish being served could have hospitalised myself!He offered my husband a free cocktail which we thought was very bizarre as it was myself that could have potentially been hospitalisedWe paid the bill in full which was £45.45 and left absolutely shocked that this could have happened after all the media press on food allergy lately ie Natashas Law!I would like a response to this review as this was a major issue and the next person may not be as lucky it was only because my husband noticed that it didn’t taste right and didn’t look like scampi but the next person may not be as luckyAnd to be told the “chef got confused isn’t really a good enough excuse “Needless to say this has upset us both which should have been a special lunch and will not be returning to The Lounge , it is not as it used to be I don't think it can get back there at all.Georgina Dent

Drinks were lovely however, there was a lot of confusion with orders and some miscommunication with workers. Could be teething issues with just reopening but our experience could've been better.

Called in today on spec around 4:45pm. I commented to my friend how hard working the waitress was. She never stopped. She was a credit to the place. I ordered the Steak that came with Parmigian Fries. Was going to ask for a steak knife, but found I didn't need one. Well done capped of a perfect day.

Newly opened with new owners. Great staff - incredibly friendly and very accommodating; I had the best ever first night in Hull! Epic food (huge meat skewers) for a decent price. Inventive, tasty (and rather strong) cocktails on offer. I highly recommend this venue.

Been with the girls today great staff food was amazing great portions for the value couldn't fault it! Cocktails are value for money too. Thank u lounge staff xx

Went for lunch here on Sunday. Place was quiet so no problem seating 8 of us. Food is priced on par for the area as are drinks- £4 for a pint of Heineken. Service was friendly and quick. I had the sirloin steak burger which was substantial and tasty. I wish it was served on a plate so I didn't have to deal with a basket of fries but that's a small complaint. My only real gripe is that there are so many bars in the area that feel a bit identikit... Similar menus, drinks and atmosphere. Still, I would recommend this place to any in the area.

Nice food, not too expensive, Guinness good too. Service good.

We enjoy the food every time we go but this time was especially good. So good I just couldn't leave any and had to take the rest I didn't finish home! Nice atmosphere and enjoy just drinking there too. Staff are lovely. Can't fault the place.
