Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Hull in Kingston upon Hull

This was a place on my list to try, we booked a early slot so had the restaurant to our selves, had steak and pork mains and prawn and egg starter, they were very basic dishes, staff friendly enough, overall not enough wow factor to live up to his name.

The last time I was in a Marco Pierre White Restaurant was in Glasgow a fair few years ago and was hugely let down to what I was expecting. Me and my wife decided to give this one a go and hoped it was just a one off experience last time.We arrived to an empty restaurant where we was told because we hadn't booked we would have to be quick and they was doing us a massive favour letting us in. (All the time we was there it wasn't even nearly half full)Service was ok but unfortunately again the standard of food did not match the price tag, I had a prawn cocktail which was a few prawns, lettuce, chopped egg 🙄 and a bit of sauce. The brown bread that came with it was the star of the show. I had a burger with chips, not my usual choice in a place like this but played it safe and to be brutally honest the burger was dry and tasteless however the chips were lovely. The wife had Scotch egg to start which was very nice and fillet steak as a main which was tough and dry, even had to order some extra sauce to help get it down.Unfortunately I think we are completely done with MPW

The food wasn't great, the portions were small and dry. The service was shockingly slow, you had to fight to get someone to take your drinks order. We had to remind the service team on several occasions that we had already ordered food drinks.

I stay here regularly and always have a great experience. All the staff are fantastic and especially Ioannis , David and Amy in the restaurants, great service, very attentive etc. I highly recommend it

After an hour and a half we have been served cold food and had to wait 30 minutes for a round of drinks. I’ve been to other Hilton’s in the past and never had such a poor experience. Go to a local restaurant where they actually care because here is not worth itAfter 2 hours and 30 minutes they had served everyone else at my table and brought me the wrong food. It has gotten to the point I’ve told them I’m not paying and ordered a pizza from a takeaway

Calamari was greasy and Luke warm. My partners steak was luke warm and overcooked. My burger was average.On a positive note, service from most of the staff was great. Chocolate mousse dessert was wonderful.Expected better and have had better. Sorry... ☹

Glorious afternoon. After booking in for afternoon Tea with my wife. We were pleasantly surprised with the whole package. The food, drink, staff and the service was excellent from start to finish. We have just booked in for Christmas dinner on the back of this. Well done to all concerned.

After a second visit to the restaurant I am really disappointed. We were gifted a Groupon meal and my food was awful. I understand Groupon vouchers are not going to be for the full menu but the choices were really poor, my salad could have been made better by my 9 year old and my gnocchi tasted like it had just had tomato puree poured on it. The service was lacking as well. We walked in with our coats on and we're left to drape them over our chairs instead of having them hung up in the cloaks area that was clearly visible from where we were sat. The only positive from this visit was that they had partitioned off the restaurant to give the illusion of being busy which made it more cosy than our previous visit.

First time and it won't be my last. Great steak meal with green peppercorn sauce and roasted tomatoes. Classic 1970s chocolate mousse to finish. Meal made all the better with 25% early bird discount before 7pm

Well in one word disappointing! I had ordered 2 courses and ok they may have been on the lower end of the menu's scale, but when your paying top prices on a below average meal it does leave you disappointed.For the starter I had ordered a french onion soup, it arrived with the dish extremely hotter than the soup inside which to me indicated it had been microwaved! Ok i understand soups are probably made in advance but was a bit of a shock that the soup inside was only mildly warm. The Gruyere cheese on top wasn't even browned on top just look melted. The soup itself was really unseasoned and I have had much better tasting french onion soup at Cafe Rouge and they cook mediocre at best.For the main I ordered The Governor's Steak and Ale Pie, again maybe on the lower end of this restaurants menu but I expected a decent attempt. It came served with buttered garden peas and I had to order portion of triple cooked chips on the side. The pie was only seasoned with salt and the steak was tough, there were no herbs or ale taste whatsoever. The pastry top wasn't crispy and very salty. The chips certainly didn't look triple cooked were doused in salt, they certainly weren't fluffy inside and the potato seemed clear as in undercooked. I tried to take a photo of this but was that dark inside the restaurant couldn't get very clear photos. The buttered garden pees were the saving grace to this course although I did have to add pepper to them, but I did have a hint of buttered taste as described.All in all this restaurant was in Hull and not in Manchester or London, but I did expect a lot more for the money. For anyone living or visiting Hull there are much better restaurants further in the centre. But all i can say for better quality and for a reasonable price wetherspoons is only a 10 minute walk away from the hotel.The front of house staff though were excellent and very friendly.
