We have been to the lodge a few times now, the food is amazing. All the bar staff are very friendly and welcoming.Your not waiting long for your food and they’re really big portions too

Nice place really friendly staff, good selection of beer. Though the food wasn't great, its ok but was expecting better. The only reason for the 3 star is the food.

On Wednesday 1st of June eight of us met up at the Lodge to celebrate my wife angie leaving Stagecoach after quite a few years and I don't think we could have chosen a better place to celebrate, it was a beautiful setting and the food was beautiful the staff were lovely and friendly so all I can say is well done to the staff and keep it up

lovely Sunday lunch, service was excellent, not a very relaxing atmosphere, we were seated on hard wooden benches and loud rock and roll music blaring out would of been great for a party night, but a bit ott with Sunday lunch

Enjoyed our time at the lodge. The food was amazing as usual.Had to ask a few times for things like menu, didn't really get any information when we got there. But staff were helpful when we did ask. Definitely recommend.

Had a lovely birthday meal here for 2 family members. A party of 11, all our meals came out at correct time. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Excellent service. 👍

Worst dining experience I’ve ever had, rude staff, flirting with drunk young men instead of attending to customers. Virtually threw the plates down at us, tutted, rolled their eyes if you dared to ask for anything and the worst is they took £50 deposit off me then didn’t knock it off the bill at the end, tried to complain, no replies from emails or calls, disgraceful behaviour, look on trip adviser before booking here, certainly wish I had, terrible reviews .

I went here with my mam and dad and daughter recently for a Sunday lunch. Where do I start? Seemingly disinterested staff who can't even look at you when taking your order. If you're working in a customer-facing role, then at least be polite and make eye contact with the customer - pretty basic stuff. Our reserved table looked like it hadn't even been wiped down. There were no menus at the table and when I asked for some, the guy behind the bar told me to take the only two from the stand near the bar. When I said I needed a couple more as there were four of us, he reluctantly got us a couple more. Obviously too much trouble for him. Should I really need to be asking for something as basic as this? The meals took a while to come and when our three beef roast dinners came, there was minimal beef, the Yorkshire puddings were burnt and the roast potatoes were solid so clearly not fresh. We asked for salt and pepper and received small sachets of the stuff and they couldn't even put a spoon in the small dish of horseradish sauce we requested. My daughter's meal seemed okay.Add to the above the women effing and blinding on a table a few yards away in front of my nine-year-old daughter and that served to top of this horrible experience. I don't usually write reviews but when I've paid good money for something as poor as this, I'll make an exception.

What a nice place, there's an outside area plus a large area they use for functions plus another smaller seating area. The waitresses were very nice and got us seated quickly enough. They had several specials up on boards including desserts. There's only a couple of John Smiths beers on tap and the usual ciders & lagers . We didn't have starters as we saw several plates of food go out heaped right up. So we ordered chicken kieves (wife & daughter) and I had mixed grill. I got a botyle of house sauv which was 12 quid. We had ootion of fries or home made chips, we obvs had home made. Well the food came out and was fab. I had large onion rings in a fine light batter, a 10oz med rare steak, spicy sausage, cajun chicken breast a Heap of nicely cooked veg and the hm chips. The girls' chicken Kiev was huge, coated in golden crumbs and a generous amount of garlic butter on top. The chicken was very juicy but not greasy at all. All meals were packed with flavour and all well seasoned. We asked the manager about the food, specifically the kievs, if bought in to which he lsughed and said no, all our food is home made. Top marks to the chef Brian, he did a fantastic job. The manager also said it's best to book Friday and Saturday's as gets busy. There's a large bar in the main area and a smaller one where we were. Plenty of parking as you cut through one car park to get to the pub as it's set back from the main road. The three meals, beer, Martini and bottle of wine came in at just under 20 quid each. Out of interest, one day during the week they do an over 55's club with live music and snacks which is a great idea to socialise safely. We will definitely be back. Fantastic.
