Loved this place food was bang on n beer was cool proper traditional pub only down side they need to tell u it cash only bit of a pain if ya goin for a meal to go get cash

I love this pub. Some might say it's outdated or old. Personally I think that's what give it its charm, it hasn't changed since I was a teenager. It's cozy with real fires. Not the electric rubbish. The food is awesome, the landlord is a character. I've seen reviews that say he is rude.utter rubbish He's a yorkshire man straight talking. We celebrated my birthday here, the food is amazing the deep fried black pudding is something I've never had, but will definitely be back for some more delicious. Reasonable prices home cooked food with quality ingredients.

Was OK just disappointed they are still cash only this day and age when no were near a cash point

A proper pub, good beer, good food, a real coal fire and a great welcome. One thing to be aware of is that like real pubs ought it only takes cash, not cards.

The second time we have had a meal there, very good meal both times. Good friendly service, will certainly go again.

Good homely food with a roaring open fire great place for lunch

Just spent a week in Yorkshire and wish we had discovered the LRG earlier. The home cooked food was absolutely gorgeous, with very generous portions. The beer was equally as good, especially the real ales.If you are looking for a traditional Yorkshire pub, with good food, beer and prices to match, the Lower Royal George ticks all the boxes.

Avoid Sunday lunch. Frozen roast potatoes, instant gluteneous mash, frozen Yorkshire puddings, ready sliced beef. So disappointed as we have eaten here mid week and the food was lovely.
