Like other 2 merry Englands in town centre one closer to Kirkgate and other one near old top shop store used be before moved to kingsgate but I had a hot sandwich coffee and cake in Kirkgate early this year the cake and coffee ok but the hot sandwich is very disgusting and nearly put me off hot food

I hadn't been to a Merrie England coffee shop for a number of years, but I was pleasantly surprised last week when I revisited the one situated in Kirkgate In Huddersfield town centre. Nice helpful and welcoming staff, and delicious toasted hot beef and onion sandwiches. Well worth a visit.

Had a soup and a toastie, soup was served immediately, toasties came 10 minutes after so soup was cold. Toasties were done on a teacake!? I have never seen this before. They were dry and flat as a pancake. Cheese inside removed the skin from the top of your mouth! All in all a very poor experience.

Traditional food of good quality, served quickly. Best place for a roast beef sandwich and coffee. Great staff.

·

Good coffee Sandwiches always been great fillings but bread always been poor ever since they opened

·

Love Merrie England, I think I can safely say I've been in them all now, and it's always the same. Good quality food and good staff. How a coffee shop should be.

·

Very disappointed at Merry England today, very poor customer service. Getting kicked out of the outdoor seating area as we were eating our sandwiches. I gave my details for the Track And Trace but we still got told to leave. We each had two small children with us as well. My sister had told them we were going to take-away our food but we changed our minds. The staff embarrassed us in-front of everyone and told us to leave with such rudeness in her voice. Very - very disappointed.

Lovely and rustic environment, ideal for a morning coffee or an afternoon tea.

·

Apart from McDonalds it was the only place at 7:30am I found open . Pleasantly surprised at quality of food. Coffee beans replenished whilst I was waiting to be served by Grumpy Mule Beans (a Huddersfield Locala coffee company - free trade too)

I always enjoy going to this Merrie England cafe outside of the packhorse. The staff are always happy and friendly. It is such a quaint coffee shop and there is always plenty of room to sit. Lots of choice to choose from would definitely recommend.
