Royal & Ancient in Kirklees

We decided to go back after a long time for ower 40th anniversary did not disappoint we had goat cheess tart garlic mushrooms, duck with black pudding and Cajun chicken for pudding sticky toffee pudding with custard and Bailey's cheese cake all very nice

Friendly service and good food. The portions are large so having a starter and main course is quite hard to finish your plate but they offer doggy bag. Photos of starters, falafel & houmous and goats cheese.

Food was exceptional from starter to main course. Well presented, fresh and tasty. The batter on the fish could have made a stand alone dish it was that good. Pleasant staff too.

Decided to give this pub a try for afternoon lunch. Well what can I say the food was delicious, made with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. If you have a good appetite you will not be disappointed. The prices are reasonable and the staff are welcoming, providing a relaxing environment to eat. Will definitely be visiting again so give this restaurant a try.

Great food the fish are the size of a whale and very tasty plenty for anyone 😋. The Staff and the service was first class with well kept Ales and other Drinks all at reasonable prices. Will be back and highly recommend to one and all. Thank you.

Car park a little small, although there is some on road parking also. The dog friendly bit is just where the entrance is so can be drafty with people in and out. The chairs where Definitely high on my list of one of the most uncomfortable iv sat on. Leaving the best until last - the food was delicious, we had garlic mushrooms and deep fried brie fresh and tasty. We then both had braised beef dinner which was beautifully cooked falling to pieces when touched. Yorkshire's and roasts perfect, and even a little gravy boat. What more could you want. Will definitely be back.

We visited the Royal & Ancient for lunch, there were five of us my husband had been told the food was good but good isn't a good enough word I would say fantastic. Very well presented, plenty of it and very reasonable priced. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was very jolly. We will definitely be going again soon.

Great place to eat and drink, food is hot and tasty, portions are generous. Team great too being attentive and nothing too much trouble

Under new management. Went to see how this was working out. Pleasantly surprised. We were a little early for food but welcomed and given menus.Good choice of food. Very well presented and well cooked. Competitively priced. I would caution that they are very large portions. Management will do smaller portions and flex the menu if asked.Management have some big plans for development. Which sound great. Looking forward to going back. This is on "the list" for us now.
