Royal City Cantonese Restaurant in Kirklees

Starter very nice i ordered house special chow mein it was awful it looked like it was covered in a jellylike substance totally unappealing and their prices have gone up quite a bit sorry but i wont be patronising again.

The menu was £17per head eat what you want. Not a buffet, you order the food and it is cooked and brought out to you, and it was all very tasty. Friendly and attentive staff too.

Royal City - A cosy restaurantRoyal city is located above two commercial shops, the venue isn't wheelchair friendly.Upstairs is a quaint "traditional" chinese restaurant feel, whereby it feels like it was last decorated in the 90's (personally i like that style, its refreshing)The restaurant however was fairly cold, we had to keep our coats on.There are small radiators dotted about but its not sufficient to heat the whole open plan upstairs. If the restaurant was full perhaps the collective body heat would suffice.The service was good, the staff are nice and attentive, however the restaurant wasn't too busyThe food was okay, it feels worthy of 3 star but nothing more. Ingredients wise i've had more succulent ribs with more meat in the bone elsewhere. The crispy beef was just crispThe mushroom dish could be prepared better with button or chestnut mushrooms as the garlic sauce was good, but a basic cheap mushroom was used and sort of sloped together.Neither of us like the prawns that used, they just had a very very cheap taste and we couldn't finish those dishes. I wouldnt order any prawn dish againThe savoury was okay, but also thin on the fillness level. Ive had more filled spring rolls from iceland! It would be good if they did their own large/medium sized spring rolls with varied fillings to stand out from the restIf you're after a standard chinese buffet this place wont let you down, it'll be what you want and expect

Lovely meal this evening. First time visiting for myself and hubby second time for son .heard good things and wasn't disappointed

Lovely place. Food was brilliant and all went. Felt bar bill was quite steep considering out of 11 drinks, six were soft drinks. However this will not stop us going again. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good portion sizes, hot qnd food arrived quickly after ordering. From start (booking a week before) until we walked out tonight, it was a great experience.

Could not fault anything! The food was superb, lovely and hot. The staff were great and service was very quick. Will definitely be going back!

Staff were absolutely wonderful here!I'm personally not a big fan of the changes to buffets, however I understand that they have to work like how the are now due to current restrictions.Past this issue, the staff happened to be very helpful and friendly at this venue and treated my group like family at the time of arrival.Food was a little bit hit or miss, but overall it was very enjoyable.

Had a very tasty enjoyable experience at this Chinese buffet. You do order items to be brought to your table rather than self serve but at least things are cooked fresh - and there's no limit really.Food arrived in very good time, was excellent, and very tasty...service was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was very good too.Would love to return in the future!

Really Enjoyed our Sunday lunch here the staff were really friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome the food also was really lovely and we liked every dish they served us we definitely will be coming back.

Nice friendly staff, nice atmosphere buffet style menu. Order your starters until your ready to move onto the main. Order your mains until your stuffed. The best thing is that all the food is cooked freshly and not stood for ages like in a normal style buffet restaurant. And all for £12.50 but they do close at 9pm so be early and we'll worth a visit
