The Ford Inn in Kirklees
Where is The Ford Inn?
🏠 Greenfield Rd, Holmfirth HD9 2LS
"A traditional country pub, nestled in the hillside above the scenic village of Holmfirth and a 15 minute drive from Saddleworth. Dating back 200 years to the reign of King George III , The Ford Inn was a collection of farmsteads on a medieval road and packhorse trail. Serving hearty, traditional pub food, seven days a week, it's the perfect place to stop for lunch or dinner. Call us to book a table on 01484 854741."

We recently stopped for a meal.My partner chose the herb crusted salmon fillet and she was over the moon. She never seen this dish before other places, it was excellent, you must try! I also tasted it and really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly too.

Had rump steak and husband had the steak and ale pie Absolutely gorgeous food. Someone warned us about the chicken burger, said it was chewy and chips were hard. However our food was lovely.

Beautiful location, looking out on the tops of Huddersfield, onto the moors. The staff were nice ans polite. The food did take slightly long but it was packed out. The food was cooked really well and the pie was very tasty, it was just the crust let it down. It was a bit crumbly instead if flakey and the veg was a undercooked. Not bad for the prices.

After having a nice walk around the lovely countryside. We stopped in for a rest. The staff were really friendly and allow us to have the dog under the table. The coffee was nice. We didn't eat but the food that was been served did smell great. The car park is a good size so you should always be able to park in their car park. A great place to stop after walking the local hills

Was made to feel really welcome, right from phoning to ask if I could park overnight in my campervan. Nicely kept real ale, and a wide variety of other choices if that's not your thing. Food was excellent and plenty of it! I tried the beef stew with dumplings off the Winter Warmer section of the menu.Pub is spacious and comfortably appointed, with plenty of tables for eating or sitting with a drink, but also has nice bar area and retains a proper pub feel rather than being more of an eatery like too many these days!Too chilly for sitting out in mid January, but had a nice outside table area, and further tables on a lawn beside the car park. Looks like it would be great for Summer visit!Overall, couldn't fault it! Would definitely return.

I ate here approximately 2 years ago and it was fine, i can even remember having fish and chips,I went again today with my girlfriend and 2 others,It wasn't great 😔I had the chicken kiev, instead of a whole breast, with the garlic butter inside the breast,What I got were 2 overdone strips with the butter poured over!My girlfriend had the Leek, chestnut & Stilton pie,She described it as "odd", apparently the chestnuts are like big, overdone chickpeas 😬The restaurant itself is a nice place and in a beautiful location, and the people who work there are lovely, but the food, sadly, isn't great.

arrived 1:10pm on wednesday, a table for 5 was booked two days ago. weather was windy and occassional showers so everyone sit inside. free wifi was not good and basically was not working. meals were tasty. the ham sandwich was good with few slices of ham. plenty steak in homemade steak and ale pie. lamb shank and salmon were delicious. the piri piri chicken wings was tasty (not spicy).the dessert stick toffee pudding was a bit disappointed due to no service with custard and the pudding was not like others that I had in other restaurants.
