Woodman Inn in Kirklees

Unfortunately our room was on the ground floor and the people in the room above had very creaky floor boads that kept us awake on and off through the night. The room was right next to the main road which was busy and noisy. The room was hot even with the radiators off so we had to have a window open making the noise from cars and pub goers even louder.The barman seemed a little unfriendly but seemed to have plenty of time for his friends and the locals. We had a nice meal in the evening and the selection of ales were good. Breakfast however was a bit of let down. The eggs were cold and my partners pancakes were soggy. On check out we mentioned the above and was told that room is the worst room to be in and maybe not book that again. We were half way through talking when she became distracted and we thanked her and left as it very busy.

Loved it so much we booked our wedding here for next year! Had a bit of an 'American werewolf in London' pub moment when we first walked in but a lovely place. Going g back to try the food soon.

Had to go and get someone @ 23.50 I got woken up by the sound of running water! When I say sound it was really loud! I thought there was a leek somewhere. The person above was having a shower/Bath? Then it sounded like the person was stomping around the room it did not stop until 12.50am! not happy we have got to drive 5 hours home on little sleep!!The staff were lovely and the location beautiful room to noisy so I'm tired and rather grumpy 😠

Visited as two couples for a friend's 50th birthday & the experience was faultless. The pub is beautiful & dog friendly, the staff were amazing and made us feel like we'd been going there for years. Food is delicious and the menu is varied and reasonably priced. We stayed in a dog-friendly room to the front of the property which was immaculate. We will definitely be back!

Place and setting is beautiful. The food and staff are exceptional. Every member of the team went out of their way to make us feel welcome, which is unusual. Thank you so much to John, Kieren and all the staff x

Went to view for a future wedding. Disappointed. I dare say that it would be OK for some people but for the garden suite you need to have 60 people. We're expecting 40.The rooms look ok but we thought that having to walk through a crowded room to go upstairs for the ceremony was a bit much!

Food was excellent. Good flavour and decenct size portions. Service was excellent and friendly. Had the Scallops for starter and Turbot for main. Absolutely lovely. The Brioche Butter pudding sounded good but was full. Must remember not to have lunch next time so I can treat myself to 3 courses.

On the surface this looks like a very trendy high class country pub/hotel/restaurant. Sadly under the surface it does not follow through.The food was underwhelming and over priced and the rooms need a good clean and checking by management. The staff were very good and tried constantly to resolve any issues. There was confusion at breakfast as people were turning up an hour before it was actually being served. The breakfast when served was covered in ground pepper and not to everyone’s taste and the quality was not good

I stayed for one night at the Woodman Inn. The room was spacious and had all the amenities I needed. The bed was the comfiest hotel bed I have slept in. The food at the Inn was well presented, home made and very tasty. I was staying for work and needed to leave before breakfast officially began. The staff were incredible and put together a continental breakfast for me to have before leaving for work. It was a great stay and definitely value for money. The staff made my experience even better. I would definitely recommend the Woodman Inn.

I visited the Woodman Inn as a member of a wedding party for both the ceremony and reception. It was excellent. The building is traditional rather than modern and beautifully situated ideal for wedding photos. The staff were very experienced, friendly and helpful and made sure the day went as planned. Food was excellent both for the reception and evening event. The surroundings helped ensure a warm and buzzing atmosphere. Accommodation was very good, well maintained, comfortable. Structure of the main building might be a challenge for people with mobility issues. Overall I was very impressed with the venue.
