Blackhouse - The Grill on the Square in Leeds

Service started out quick and efficient, but our starter turned up after the main (this was deducted as we didn’t want it) a drink came after a very long wait and after our meal the waitress couldn’t remember if we wanted a dessert menu (we did and we waiting a long time for one) and then getting attention for the bill with our empty plates and glasses was difficult too. It looked like there had been a change over in staff or breaks as our original server had left and there was just a couple of staff on. All servers were friendly though and the food we had was nice, thus 4 stars.

Great food and really lovely scenery but took a while for the food and with it been my birthday never got my birthday desert and had to ask for one but overall really nice experience - food was 5/5

Lower scoring for the service. Yes it was very busy but we were a group of six, prebooked and were placed in a corner out of sight and on top of AC unit. Steak was nice but I've had better, especially for the price. The starter was gorgeous, chick lover parfait, although only got 2 tiny peices of toast with it and they charged more for extra piece..

Went for a meal with some vendors from work. No masks required inside. Seated quickly and soon had drinks orders taken. There were some menu items not available but these were clearly covered off when we ordered. Starters were good, came out of the kitchen in a reasonable time, and were very tasty. Main courses arrived not long after and were decent size portions, hot, fresh, good quality and tasty again.Good service from the staff through the mail and more drinks provided.Toilets were clean and tidy, though were downstairs so not suitable for the mobility challenged - though it's a half flight of steps up to get to the front door as well.Overall good quality meal in pleasant surroundings with helpful staff.Not cheap, but great for a business meeting.

First time here, really busy and great atmosphere topped off by a great pianist. Food was good but all 6 of us had steaks and all found to be a bit tough other than that impressed and will return

Excellent food and lovely service for my daughters 16th!! The salmon and seasonal vegetables were gorgeous 😍 really good atmosphere!! 🤩 My daughters sirloin steak was 'yummy' she said!! Well done 👏

Absolutely love this restaurant! Always have! It’s my favourite in Leeds for a steak and never disappoints!This time we had the Tomahawk (800g) for Sunday lunch! Was lush. Let the chefs cook it to their recommendations- they are the experts after all.The lovely waitress(not sure of her name, ginger hair and nose ring-lovely girl!) helped me select a great wine to accompany my food. Went for the Rioja 2014, it was gorgeous.Overall an amazing meal, birthday treat. A few things I was surprised at or had changed but did not change the fact that I will be back. The ambience is always lovely. Especially when the piano player is on!Feedback:The bread portion was a lot smaller than way back when, when comparing it to the butter portion it did make us chuckle!The sticky toffee pud was slightly cold in the middle but sauce was hot enough to get round this.Our waitress had left by the time we finished and I would have liked to say thank you to her before we left as she did such a brill job :)See you again Blackhouse!

Located on East Parade this restaurant creates a really brilliant ambience with a live pianist/vocalist playing a really good range of jazz , blues and modern music. Excellent vibe without drowning out conversation. The staff are friendly and helpful and help to create a personal touch. The service was slow from the kitchen, maybe down to the number of parties in for Sunday lunch but the food was good quality and tasty. I’d definitely return and give this another go.Update: Oct21Return visit and certainly wasn’tdisappointed. Excellent table service & good quality steaks cooked to perfection, well rested, tender and with loads of flavour. However for some weird and unfathomable reason, choosing a beer is a complete guessing game for both customer and staff due to unbranded beer pumps. They had 4 attempts at finding the pint of asked for and having done so, had to change the barrel. Must cost them in both time & wastage - mad.

Booked table here for lunch with some friends, food was gd. I ordered the Aubergine steak (V) was so yummy and fulfilling; there was a katsu curry sauce that came with the dish it was a gd dipping sauce for the chips

Nice modern restaurant bar and grill with plenty of outdoor seating. Tables on the balcony have heaters. Lots of great cocktails for £8, I can recommend the Rhubarb Sling, very tasty.
