Visited tonight for the first time. Wheelchair accessible entrance with a manual door. A server greeted us quickly and saw us to a table. We were served drinks within five minutes and asked if we’d like to order within another five. Our starters arrived quickly, and were delicious. Mains arrived within five to ten minutes of our plates been cleared and again, the food was rich, freshly prepared and tasted beautiful. Each server we encountered was friendly and happy to help. The lighting was perfect, not too bright or dim. Music was playing at a quiet level so it was still easy to talk and the temperature was comfortable (the waitress happily turned on a radiator when I said I may get cold). The disabled toilet was clearly signposted and easy to find. It was clean, with left hand transfer and the mirror at an accessible height. The red cord was hanging freely. There was plenty of space between tables, with hand sanitiser available on the bar. A really positive experience on all fronts and I’ll definitely be visiting again and recommending to everyone who’ll listen 😊I’ll also be adding accessibility details to the Sociability app for future visitors.

This is a really lovely pub, clean and tidy and a really good atmosphere. We sat in the conservatory area which had the roof pulled back and a patio heater right nxt to me. They also give you blankets to cover yourself if too cold. They also have seating out back and a few out front. A decent sized carpark. I didn't eat but the food looked and smelt fantastic, will be going back for a meal. The staff where really polite and friendly. The drinks where reasonable priced.

We visited here today for lunch after attending the Emmerdale Village Tour. The welcome, food and service was fantastic we was so pleased with our visit here. We live over 90 miles away so looked for something with good reviews and we can understand why. 100% recommend. Wish there was more pubs like this with the levels of excellent service and food quality

Poor service, mediocre food and to top it all we were presented with a bill which included a £49.50 bottle of champagne which we hadn't had! Manager did give us a generous discount for poor food and sorted out our bill. Place was heaving, 3pm on Sunday afternoon

It was a last minute decision to go for a Sunday lunch...at 6.30pm...the staff were very accommodating and polite.Had the two course menu and drinks.£40.00 for two people...good value and good wholesome food ...Will call in again

We chose The Brownlee Arms because it was recommended as a welcoming place for doggoes but my goodness, it's a fantastic place for humans too! The menu was a refreshing change from the usual dishes served in most pubs and all our food was truly delicious and well cooked. Service was exemplary and a special shout out to Gabby who really looked after us. Great beer too. Just wish we lived closer so we could visit more often but if we are in the area again wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Lovely food, excellent friendly service and dog friendly! I live in East Yorkshire and my sons live in Cheshire so we have met up here on several occasions over the last few years as it is equal distance for us to travel. Never been disappointed with any aspect of this great place.

What happened? We haven’t been here in a while but it was always our favourite local. We won’t go back. I’ve eaten a lot of steak of varying standards but this was completely inedible; like trying to chew rubber - Sirloin, medium rare so it should have been fine so either the age or the quality resulted in the worst meal I’ve had. After leaving the majority of it, not even half the cost of that dish was deducted from the bill. To add to the insult, the [new?] manager waited until we were walking out of the door to shout across the bar “see you later, thank you”. Obnoxious! Other issues: the toilet was flooded with urine and the tap was hanging off. Just a bucket placed under the urinal, not closed or cleaned. Appalling throughout. Friends and family all advise to avoid this pub.

Great location just round the corner from us. Always have Timmy Ts on, food is very nice (they do Yorkshire pudding wraps), staff are nice, lots of seating inside and out and they are dog friendly

Very disappointed. Came here for a Sunday roast which was poor quality. The beef was ok but seems like frozen veg and frozen Yorkshire pudding both tasteless all brought together with a weak gravy. My wife had a fish pie which was some bits of salmon under some dry mash served with dry vegetables. Very expensive for this kind of food.
