Charco's in Leeds

I ordered a piri piri chicken burger, and it was so good.

I used to really love this place growing up in leeds.But as of yesterday my perspective has changed.The quality has gone down in all honesty.My chicken was just dry and tough and rubbery.The customer service isn't great either.The meat on my leg piece of chicken was slightly red/pinkish. I highlighted this to the manager "R kid there is nothing wrong with that chicken i eat it every day its cooked". I just didnt bother arguing it with him and just ate it and agreed with him.He didnt even offer to cook me a new one. I'd eaten a lot of it anyway so wasn't expecting a refund or anything. I hate writing bad reviews but i paid £15 for all that food yesterday and it just seems like they dont even care anymore.The sauce used to be amazing that they cooked the chicken in, now it just taste like ketchup.It's sad to see corners being cut on quality i used to love this place.And the sides as well, like you can only pick out of 4 sides, you can't pick any other options for a meal, it's proper stingey.I'm saddened by this because of the money I have spent here over the years.I don't expect any refunds or rewards or freebies just treat your paying customers with more respect going forward, you knew that chicken didn't look right, i worked in nandos for years so I know what chicken leg meat looks like, i know its dark meat however that was pink/red yesterday.

I don’t usually write reviews, but honestly this place has gone downhill… I have never received such bad customer service in all my life. The man behind the till was so rude and it’s like when you walk in to the shop he’s upset that he has to do some work.. shocking the owner really needs to take a good look at his staff members..The food is also very pricey and the quality of the food isn’t great at all. The rice is really oily and it makes you feel sick after eating it.Overall I will not be coming back again and I would leave zero stars if I could. 👎🏻

The worst customer experience i’ve ever had!! Shut down the call on my face just for trying to to figure something wrong with my order! If there is less than one star I would go for Not gonna order from them again!

Absolutely superb. Great staff and great food. A full charcoal chicken, three large sides and two cans of pop for under £20. Just brilliant.

Really pleased got a whole piri chicken, chips and salad for less than £15 including delivery to Wortley, as good as if not better than nandos, impressive, will be ordering from there again.

Just opposite to Parkinson steps, a nice place to take quick lunch for the chicken lover. Foods are Halal and newly decorated. It's really busy during term time. A bit expensive but worthy.

Tasty chicken🤩 I love the extra spicy sauce so much. The prices are inexpensive with huge portions.

Food comes out quickly, been here many times and there hasn't been a time where I've been unsatisfied.Pay when you order, and pick up sauces, cutlery, napkins and tap water at the station next to the till.Close proximity to the Leeds uni, Parkinson building and some offices. Great for lunch and/or dinner

DO NOT BUY!!! (terrible value).Before purchasing chicken from this establishment, I looked at the world with a naive optimism. I thought that the glass was half full. I thought that anyone could be president. I thought that half a chicken was half a chicken. But I was wrong, and I found out the hard way....This is the story of how one girl was confronted with terrible customer service, and lost £7.50 in the pursuit of half a chicken.It all started when, after a long and hard day of being hungover, my tummy rumbled loudly. I decided to try Charco's chicken, in the hope that it would offer a succulent and satisfying experience, comparable to Nando's, but with the convenience of £1 delivery.The food came quickly... too quickly perhaps. It was slightly disconcerting, but we pushed our concerns to one side, and pulled the spoils from their packaging, expecting greatness.What we are faced with was not only bitterly disappointing but also an obvious mistake... or so we thought.We rang up Charco's and explained that we had been given a quarter of a chicken by mistake. This was the obvious conclusion to draw, as nobody in their right mind would think that half a chicken could ever comprise of a bony bit of rib and one small leg (see photo below).However, instead of being met with an apology and the promise of a thigh and wing, the manager of Charco's became extremely rude and irate.The conversation went something like:Me: 'Good day. I think something may have gone awry with my order. It appears I only have two pieces of chicken, when I did, in fact, order half a chicken from your good self.'GM (Grumpy Manager): '2 pieces of chicken is half a chicken!'Me: 'No it is not, fine Sir. Half a chicken consists of the following cuts: Wing. Side Breast. Half a breast. Drumstick. Thigh.'GM: 'You are a liar! I sent 2 pieces of chicken which is half a chicken'Me: 'I am not disputing how many pieces of chicken you have sent. I am merely concerned that this is not half a chicken. If I bought two of these so-called half chickens, I could not build my own chicken, in a Frankenstein-like style. I would be curious to know how many pieces of chicken you claim make a quarter of a chicken?'GM: 'One piece of chicken is a quarter chicken'Me: 'This is unacceptable logic. Please send me the missing pieces of chicken post-haste.'GM: 'You are a liar. Admit you are a liar, and I will send chicken.'Me: 'This is a most peculiar and paradoxical request. However, I would like more chicken so I will say the magic words "I am a Liar"'GM: 'Ha! I have outwitted you. You have admitted to being a liar so I shall not send chicken'Me: 'I did not see that one coming (!). I'm afraid you give me no chance but to leave a 1 star review. The world must know that you cannot do simple chicken-maths'.So that is the story of how I was denied half a chicken. I would also like to note that my 'piri salted chips' came with a dusting of piri salt so light that a small sneeze would have blown it away. They also had a distinct microwaved-texture.I won't even comment on the 'spicy rice', except to say that I'm glad that I had not ordered it. (It's a shame the same could not be said for my poor friend, who took one look at the grey mixture and couldn't even bring himself to give it to the dog).Overall, I would like to advise anyone considering ordering from this eatery to go elsewhere. Literally anywhere else. Anywhere. (Just order a Nando's and save yourself the disappointment).
