We were visiting Leeds for the day, and decided to eat here, based upon previous reviews. Whilst the location. Decor and overall ambience was amazing. The food could have been better. We ordered chicken karai, Palak paneer and tadka dhaal. The chicken dish was tasty, however the vegetarian dishes were quite bland to be honest. Prices were a little on the expensive side, however, looking at the location I'm sure the overheads are just. Service was very good and cant fault it.

Ramadan IftariSo I am business traveller and also a keen foodie as are my family. I was up in Leeds on business and rather than eat in the chain restaurants near the centre I took a lovely fifteen minute walk. The walk alone is something to savour, taking you through the redeveloped industrial buildings that still give you a rich sense of history. The restaurant itself is set along the side of the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Lovely! The restaurant is excellent, they didn't mind I was a single diner (some restaurants leave you next to the kitchen or toilets but not here). It was Ramadan and I was there at iftari. They provided complementary dates and fruits. The vibe was very Middle Eastern almost as if I was in a resort on holiday. I ordered a variety of starters and they have a great range and some special dishes. Do give the chicken liver and the chaat dishes a go. This is unique for an Asian restaurant, very much north Indian and Pakistani food. It's authentic quality not like many restaurants run by Bangladeshis that give you a generic sauce and disguise the quality of their ingredients. You don't come here to eat popodoms that makes you thirsty to buy lots of alcohol. This is all about the food,I was satisfied but not bloated. I recommend the pink kashmiri tea instead of a desert. A nice finisher. Worth coming to Leeds just for this restaurant. Forgot to mention the price. I'm gym London and this was literally half the cost of what I would pay in London. Even Gordon Ramsey would approve.

My regular spot, excellent food. The only thing I struggle with is waiting to be fair on weekends. The Pilau rice is not the best also, has too many seeds, I couldn’t enjoy it, but the curry with boiled rice is good. Lamb chops are good as well. I like Sunset in Goa juice.

Great food, BIG portions, friendly staff and those lassi's are out of this world! Definitely worth a visit.

I must admit Excellent restaurant experience with Mumtaz Leeds, UK lastnight from start to end. Beautiful scenery at the restaurant which is located at Leeds Docks. We had to wait for a bit as they were buzy and we didn't book. Anyways, the most important thing was the food was very delicious, we ordered the Thaal and also the Lamb Leg. Very Authentic & Traditional Pakistani Cuisine, the food was cooked just right (Make sure you try there Chicken & Lamb Karahi). Also the atmosphere was amazing and it was just the perfect restaurant food night out with Top notch service. If you ever visit Leeds make sure to visit Mumtaz Leeds and again thanks guys keep up the good work.👌

I know people are going to hate this review but I will be honest. Out of a table of 9 people only 1 person enjoyed their food.To be fair I never chose to eat here and Indian food on the whole is not really for me, but I like to think I am cultured enough to try anything properly once. Before I go on, the restaurant decor is amazing. But that's where the amazement ends. To their credit, they do serve 'english' food, but I thought, how bad can a chicken korma be?Well the answer is bad - bad. I have had better take aways. Why use breast meat? It was hard and chewy. I left my food near complete as did most of the table. Then to cap it off the bill was eye wateringly huge. Also I want to add, when you have 9 people shoehorned onto a table, think about clearing up between courses. Twice I had to ask on two separate occasions (dirty plates, cutlery, napkins etc), because unless your a magician your not going to fit anymore on this table (unless we all get up!).There is no nice way to put this, if you like Indian food but like everyday prices, stay home and order from your sofa.

I came for my birthday, the food arrived surprisingly quick, it was really nice, we all enjoyed! The atmosphere and interior were beautiful. All the staff were very kind, friendly and professional! Our waiter Imad was exceptional, I have to say 10/10 for customer service. Thank you, we will definitely be coming again.(we loved the mango lassi and the mocktails)

Came in without a booking and got seated straight away. The staff are friendly and there was a nice atmosphere. We ordered for starters the samosa chaat, masala fish (500g) and chops. The food came out really quick, within five minutes actually which makes me wonder that most of the stuff has to be half cooked before hand and finished off when an order comes through. But to be fair they tasted nice. Then for mains we ordered chicken biryani chicken karahi and tarka daal with plain naan and cheese naan. The naans were nice and soft. The chicken karahi was good, and the daal was ok, not full of flavour however the biryani was cold. It was a let down to be honest. We ordered the Lahore, Delhi and goa mocktails which we enjoyed, and have to say was the best part of the meal. Would I come back, probably not as there are lot more places that serve better quality food. However the service was good so the get a few extra brownie points.
