Loved it, we had a very busy day and looked for somewhere to eat where we could take my son and his girlfriends puppy. We were so warmly welcomed and looked after. I am not sure if he was the owner or manager but we were having lovely conversations. The meal was outstanding and we could not eat it all. Wine he recommended devine indeed. My son went back the following evening.Outstanding in every way indeed. :)

We booked to eat here for a celebratory meal. We really enjoyed the meal. The hummus was excellent, especially with the focaccia and anchovies. We had 4 starters between two of us, but as the chefs were directly opposite in the open kitchen we were a bit surprised when our mains arrived half way through our starters. After a short discussion they were taken back and a fresh meal delivered 15 minutes later. Excellent haddock and chips and the belly pork melted in the mouth. The salted caramel, chocolate mousse popcorn wasn’t really set and very sweet but still enjoyable with two selections from the specialist whisky list. Overall a good meal but spoilt by lack of observation/communication.

After spotting this on a dog-friendly restaurant list, we stopped in here with our pooch to escape the rain on Sunday. We were after a light lunch and chose a couple of the 'Smaller Plates' from the menu. Initially there was a little mishap with an incorrect order but it was dealt with really swiftly and with a smile. A little on the pricey side for the portion size (more of a snack than a light lunch), we were relieved that we'd ordered a side to share as well, but the food was divine and we felt it was a fair price for a treat. The flavours were amazing and we look forward to going back for more foodie inspiration. Would recommend booking as it was pretty busy!

Bar snacks menu is outstanding and different, everything on the list is amazing, would order it all again. Really good quality and excellent value for money.....However, drinks are not as good as your local pub, range not what you want and more expensive than other places

One of the highlights of the roast was actually the slow roasted whole carrot which was super sweet and tasty. The portion was generous and the meat was succulent. I prefer my food to be piping hot so an improvement would be that the meal was heated up before serving. I would recommend booking for Sunday lunch to ensure you have a table.

Incredibly friendly staff, great service and a top-notch Sunday roast. The lamb option was incredibly tasty, the nut roast packed with taste and not dry at all like some can be. Veg cooked perfectly and a good selection, optional cauliflower cheese well worth the investment.Kids enjoyed the fish and chips (chips very good!) and swapped out the peas for carrot from the roast menu. No specific kids menu but they are happy to make smaller versions of anything on the regular one. Fussy eaters might struggle with this so check in advance to prevent tears.Great selection of beers and other drinks, pleasant ambience and just an all round jolly nice place to visit.(being so close to Wen's worried me a little given their bizarre reaction to my review of the experience there but I escaped any retribution).

First time visiting here in years. Used to come here and get the gammon, egg and chips all the time but they stopped doing it and we almost forgot about it.Went for a Sunday lunch. Inside was nice and well spaced out. 100% honest review: I got the beef roast, it was a little cold and hard to cut unfortunately, but tasted nice. The potatoes could’ve been a little softer for me, and the gravy thicker. Greens and carrot lovely. Controversially I’m not the biggest fan of Yorkshire puds, it was nice but a little over done for me personally. My other party members let me sample their lamb and pork. Lamb was the my favourite, then pork, then beef.Enjoyed with a nice bottle of red wine, and table chips which were great. We liked our chocolate pot dessert, the apple cheesecake was nice, the tart a little small.Final point: I remember when I used to visit often the fish and chips would be unavailable, this time it was again. Chicken roast option would be much appreciated. Would definitely return.

We were visiting the area for the weekend, and we couldn’t find any online availability but after leaving a request, they contacted us straightaway and let us know they were able to accommodate. Our visit was also matched with warm and friendly service, fantastic selection of beautifully crafted, bold yet mouthwatering flavoured dishes, all were excellent value for money. It is slightly outside the city centre but it is 100% worth the visit! I’m still dreaming of the kale salad after one week 🤤

This venue made my crawl up the M1 worthwhile. After a disastrousdelay the team were able to hold my table and super-friendly. The menu isn't complicated, but don't be fooled. What is on it, is incredibly well done! My lamb chops with puréed aubergine and greens with roasted peanuts and a tad of chilli were super and my apricot and almond tart with crème fraiche warm, with a slightly crispy base. Last but not least, the team filled my beer growler for me. Highly recommended!
