I have been a patron of The Mermaid Fish Restaurant for over 30 years, and always sung their praises, fluffy chunky chips with succulent flaky fish and light crispy batter. However I took my farther in law out for furthers day there for a special treat, we were all very disappointed, the fish was a roundish blob, covered in a very thick batter so thick it was not fully cooked, the fish inside was dry and stringy, the chips were soggy with burnt ones in with the portion. I ordered 2 fish wrapped and 3 fish and chips to eat outside, most of it went in the bin. That is sadly the last visit for us to this once great fish & chip shop. Top dollar prices paid £32.00 for my order. Somthing has gone sadly wrong here very disappointed.

Absolutely faultless, great fish and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. Tea, coffee, bread all included. Staff were lovely. My only fault on the standard portions were they were too small. 😪

Very poor.Fish is nice. The rest of the meal very poor. The restaurant is in dire need of a refurbishment.£21for 2 senior. For a very small portion of fish and horrible chips.even the tea was horrid.

Food and Service a disgrace, the chips full of black bits and cold we ask them to be change but not much better the waiter blamed the potatoes poor quality at that point I'd had enough. I gave this place another chance it's not improved in the last 20years I'll spend my hard earned money elsewhere never again.

Made an impromptu call and was made to feel welcome. I have been visiting here since a child in the 1970s and it never disappoints. Portion size just right, great quality and very good service. Recommended if in the area.

I took a party of 25 from Morley Walking Club and everyone enjoyed it. The service was very well organised and the fish and chips went down a treat. Pudding and custard too. Well done!

·

Its very good, the chips are a bit chunky and stodgy but that's personal preference, some people like proper chunky chips. The fish is nice though, can't fault them for that. If I could have given 4.5 I would. The only one that beats you guys is the miners arms chippy. You're still top class

·

Eaten here a few times of late consistently tasty good portion sizes great crispy batter good chips always plenty to eat so much so that a small chip portion is my choice here...any criticism only that I always leave wondering why the portions of fish are rounder than they are long !

·

Mixed bag, the restaurant is very dated but the fish and the mushy peas taste great! But at over £12 for fish and chips, the fish is tiny, same size as the kids portion. The fizzy drinks were flat too. Unfortunately will not be returning and sticking to Gravely's

We booked for my mother in law's birthday... I was quite disappointed with the fish... I have never seen a square fish? Especially covered in so much batter.Tea was just passable.Service was good I can't complain about the girl who served us...
