Had a meal there for Mother's Day for 8 people. The play area is good for the children as we had 3 young ones with us, and the pub interior is very pleasant. The weather was lovely also, so far so good. The food , when it arrived was also nice, a Roast and a fish choice. Sadly what has let it down was the service, or lack of. This began when we were just left waiting in the dining area for someone to seat us, as there were a few tables that could have been for us and this continued pretty much all through the meal. No one came to offer us any drinks or explain about choice for children's meals and it became a bit stressful to be honest trying to get served. The food took an hour and fifteen minutes to arrive and when we had finished we were again left, and felt ignored. We didn't bother with desserts - because again no one came over to ask and take any orders. At that point we had lost interest and we had to explain at the till that we had not had all the options as we were being charged for them. The food - to be clear was perfectly fine. However we won't be eating there again as I'm not interested in trying to get the attention of staff to serve us.

Terrible roasts and unfriendly staff.I've been really looking forward to coming here for a meal and was unfortunately deeply dissapointed. The beef was tough and chewy, the chicken was bland and dry. The trimmings were bland. Overpriced rubbish roast. To top this off, service is slow and staff clearly don't care about their customers. The wine, beer and coffee is lovely, however, I won't be eating here again.

Only stopped for a drink but watching the chef plate up Sunday lunch was mesmerising. He is an artist. Bar staff were great

Went for steak night tonight, food was so good. Salt n pepper squid starter, couple of rib eyes and a bottle of wine. The food here is seriously good and such good value. Great wine list which is rare for a pub. Highly recommend this lovely, welcoming country pub.

Enjoyed very good inexpensive lunch at the New Inn, Eccup today. 1st visit in many years, and thought that the new refurbished pub atmosphere was superb. Very friendly new management. Shall visit again more often.

A fantastic place. The welcome is a genuine, warm, Yorkshire one. The beer is very well kept and the food is phenomenal. A rare, authentic country pub with the best atmosphere possible.

This place has improved quite a lot. As a regular walker I have dropped in over the years and have noticed that the new management has made several nice improvements to the restaurant seating areas and the atmosphere and general feeling of the place, including the carparking area. The place has always been welcoming even to walkers and that is much appreciated. The meal i had last week after my party's morning walk was most enjoyable and that was the concensus from the others as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful so although the location may be a bit "off the beaten track" it is well worth a visit.

We arrived here to go on the Emmerdale village tour. Went in the pub to use the wc. Asked if we could have something to eat and was told by their frosty staff NO we are preparing for lunches. Then we tried to book in for food on our return from the village and again was told NO we're fully booked. We got the impression that they found the tours a nuisance it was very uncomfortable. Myself and my daughter orderd tea. And I paid for it and on my way out, one of the staff said very rudely "are you going to pay for your tea" and I said ive already done that thankyou very much. It's a shame really because this pub is in the middle of no where and I would of thought people from the tours would be good business for them, particularly when they come back starving hungry. We ended up going to a shop down the road and buying a sandwich. So no I do not recommend this pub.
