I planned to go here for lunch, based on the reviews. The interior is, indeed, impressive, but the food on offer looked distinctly unappetising and overpriced, so I went elsewhere. Also, there is a piano for people to play, and when I went there was a child banging out tuneless notes (neither the parents nor the staff seemed to care if it was disturbing other people) -- not my idea of a good ambience!

Lovely café set in a beautiful historic room.Food and drinks are very reasonably priced and tasty. It can be busy but is well worth it.I would be interested in learning more about the history - it is a beautiful old hall with antique tiles, flooring and busts.Nice for a catch up with friends - highly recommended

Great staff and super friendly. The cafe is absolutely stunning as well and it's fantastic on a sunny day as the whole cafe is bathed in sunlight. Nice seating as well - a good mix of window seats, normal ones, and super comfy sofas. There's even a piano there! Service is always very efficient and nice but you may not always get lunch there. The cakes and other sweet treats are absolutely delicious, however!

The Coffee & brownie is amazing & so affordable, great service. Can be quite busy & you’ll have to look for seating but overall I recommend. Will have to come again at some point to try other items!!!

I came here thinking it would be family friendly with its location between the art gallery and the library but unfortunately it just wasn't the case. The toast I ordered for my little one turned out to be a toasted ciabatta which was hard and completely unsuitable. They couldn't do any of the kids sandwiches. There was literally nothing for my little one to eat. The highchairs were dirty which is my biggest pet peeve - why is this the case everywhere? The female barista scolded us when we dared ask for a glass of tap water from the jug in front of her after she gave us our coffees and told us we should have ordered it at the till with everything else - a bit over the top really. There was also nothing vegan for me to eat. According to the menu, there was but everytime I asked the server she either didn't, know, had to check. Basically said no to everything I asked about and didn't find out what was actually vegan so I ended up not eating at all.Huge shame as the space is just beautiful and spacious. It should be the best place to meet other mums in Leeds!

We visited on Saturday around quarter past two. Had to queue for half an hour (not an exaggeration) and we told at half two (half way through our wait) that they were no longer serving hot food. We decided to stay anyway as we had already been waiting for 15 minutes. There were 5 staff members 'working', none in a rush to get through the queue and even on their phones at points which isn't terribly hygienic. The woman who served us wasn't very polite, didn't greet us when we finally made it to the front. Once we had paid and were waiting further down the counter for our coffees she then left the till to come and question if we had paid for the drinks (we had literally 30 seconds ago). We were not made to feel welcome at all and to be honest I was shocked to see so many good reviews here. I assume we were simply there on a bad day but as I don't live in Leeds this will be my lasting impression. It's a shame as the setting is so lovely!

Lovely atmosphere and interior. Menu is quite basic but enough for a small cafe in a library, catering to those who require snacks and small lunch items before indulging in the literature-filled halls

Love this place! I didn’t get their name but there was a great member of staff behind the counter that took our order. Big energy and let us choose which slice of cake we’re given.

Beautiful cafe! Love its ceiling and tiles. Instagramable. Located by the entrance to Leeds Art Gallery. As for food and drinks, prices are okay however the quality is average.

Amazing venue, had the wow factor immediatly.Arrived early and it was peaceful. Such a great mix of old and new.Staff were friendly and efficient. Coffee is quality and the Erros tea later was good. Had a falaffal beetroot wrap that was good and I felt that there was a nice attention to detail. They provide a water urn and glasses, and you can refill a bottle of water by asking staff at the counter.I inagine at its busiest the acoustics could get quite loud but when its mid busy or less its lovely. We even had a guy play on the piano at lunch time which was lovely.I cant wait to go back
