First time at this pub a lucky find, lovely inside, pleasant staff. We had Sunday lunch which was well cooked and served with a good selection of veg. Well worth a visit.

Had a nice meal however the price was high and I had the cheese board instead of a pudding… one of the very small slices of cheese was as hard as iron if I’m honest the cheese board was naff not worth the money…

Excellent service. The food not so good. Had fish and chips. Fish was overdone almost to the point of being burnt. The fish wasn't a fillet it seemed more of a piece of a fillet (Abit like a giant fish finger).

Excellent food but didn't like the £15.90 service charge they stuck on the bill.

We have been to this pub on several occasions in the past and have been quite happy to drive a fair distance to get really good food. How disappointing then to go today and be met by a lady who is defiantly in the wrong job. We were met by this dourer woman who I did not see crack a smile at all, we were seated and presented with menus but told there was only one cook in the kitchen and he was busy implying we would have a wait which considering I could only count 11 people including us was a little surprising. Anyway we ordered our drinks, a soft one for the driver and a pint of my favourite Landlord bitter for me. what arrived was a soft drink and a completely different bitter as the one I ordered was off, so sooner than give me the choice of drink this woman decided for me and served a beer I did not like, but anything for an easy life so I kept quiet and sipped. Then we were asked for our food orders which we were really looking forward to intending to go for three courses each. However before we even got started we were asked if we were ordering from the lunch menu or the al la cart, we said one meal from each and were told we both had to order from one or the other, when asked why we were told that was the way the cook wanted it.We sat for a few minutes trying to fathom the logic of this and when this lady came back I asked what if we were two separate customers who just happened to be sitting at the same table. The answer was that we both had to order from one or the other menu and that is just the way the cook wanted it for his convenience! We put £10 on the table for the drinks we did not drink and left.Such a shame that we have now lost this as a venue, but we will go to a pub that caters for the convenience of its customers and not the cook.Incidentally we used to run our own pub/restaurant for many years and this lady would not be working for me.

We met friends for a pre Christmas lunch today. The lunch menu was superb and very reasonably priced. We all had three courses and we all said how well the food was cooked. It was perfect. The decor was lovely with a roaring fire and the staff were friendly, helpful, but not obtrusive.I recommend it highly.

Lunch yesterday was probably the best lunch I've had out since returning from France 10 years ago. A set menu with a good choice for each course. Beautifully presented and delicious. Will be back

What a gem!We stumbled across this beautiful village pub whilst searching Google and we were very pleased we did. From the wonderful village setting, to the well thought out design and decoration, this is a wonderful location for dinner. And what a dinner it was! Wow. This is possibly one of the best meals we’ve had. It was sublime. The pork belly was melt in the mouth and the goats cheese bon bons were heavenly. This is far more than a village pub!The building has some great history which has many ‘doths of the cap’ inside. Seating outside helps you feel like you’re one of the locals. And the signage and pictures show a good sense of humour from the owner, too.The staff were attentive and friendly and catered to our dietary requirements well.If we lived nearby we’d make sure this was our special treat more often.Highly recommend. We’re so glad we stumbled across it!
