We went for Sunday tea on 13 th March, I ordered three drinks and two of them went to the wrong table . We also ordered two Sunday roasts and a rack of ribs. We received the tickets for the roasts and were told the ribs would be along shorty, my wife and daughter finished their roasts and the waitress asked if we would like anything else? I said yes my main please, she said she would go and get it ,we waited a further twenty minutes before going to the bar to pay. I told the lady at the till what had happened and she offered to get it for me and put it in a box for me to take away, to say I was far from impressed was an understatement and I declined a rack of ribs in a tray. We paid and left, I don't think we will be back in a hurry.

Very nice place with friendly staff. Food was good too with generous portions. We had the mushroom stroganoff, one with rice, one with chips. Will definitely go again.

This was our first visit. From the outside it looks like a social club with the way it is built and the bowling green but once inside it was lovely. We were quickly escorted to a table which was spacious for the two of us. The staff are pleasant, helpful and want to make your visit pleasurable. Although it was lunchtime hubby decided to go for the mixed grill. He was regretting this when it arrived as it was magnificent. Steak, chicken, gammon, sausage, 2x eggs, gorgeous homemade onion rings, chips, salad, peas, large flat mushroom and tomato garnish. I had the lasagne which was also beautifully served with really fresh salad, chips and garlic bread. The bill came to around Β£40 which inc 2 x pints of Carling. Despite being busy the staff were always attentive. We will definately come here again, but we will make sure we are very hungry!

Have been here before and it was lovely. However this time, shambles. Booked a table a week earlier stating that my nan is poorly and will be on a walker. Get there, have to wait for another table to leave so what was the point in booking, then my nan had to stand waiting, she has a terminal illness and cant stand for long. They could see she is very poorly and continued asking her to wait. They could have at least offered her a chair. Then the waiter dropped my sons dinner over the table, all over the sticky cleaning products that had been sprayed on the table and didn't say anything about it. The waiters weren't really interested, no smiles. My partner who owns a restaurant was unamused. Probably won't return after this. I've given 3 stars because the first time i came it was pleasant. This time, awful.

We were a group of 5 and an infant. We all had carveries and enjoyed the amount of choice. We each had different combinations. The food tasted great and was plentiful. Our desserts were delicious too. We were served promptly. The only thing I could criticise was we were a table for 6 but only had 4 pieces of cutlery. Although I asked the waitress she forgot and I therefore pinched some from another table

Booked table for 10, and the whole experience at The Shires was excellent. We all had different main courses, and they were all very good and well presented. Service excellent and we will return and recommend to friends. Well done.

Had heard good things about this place so booked in for a late Sunday dinner. We weren't disappointed, the food was delicious. We both had the carvery and it was lovely, the vegetables were fresh and roast potatoes were crispy and fluffy. Will definitely go again

Would have been 5 stars but even though we had booked ,and were dead on time, they still seemed surprised to see us and had to tidy up the restaurant before we could be seated. Everything on the menu look very tempting.Food was delicious and service was very good. Will be back.

Squeezed us in on a Sunday tea time. For somewhere off the beaten track so to speak, it was well frequented. But the staff copied well and we wasn't waiting long for anything. Good value and nice traditional pub restaurant food. The staff were polite and looked after us well. They stop food around 6pm on a Sunday, so arrive earlier. While we were there at least two people rang to ask if they had a table later in the evening, which of course they don't. I'm sure they could keep serving well into the evening, such was the popularity of the place. We'd go again for sure.
