We have just returned from a two night stay in this small but charming hotel. We stayed in room 7 on the top floor, which was very spacious, incorporating an absolutely huge 7’ bed, feature bath and large bathroom with walk-in shower. The hotel was situated very close to all amenities, with Richmond Castle being only a short walk away. Very friendly and welcoming staff made our stay extremely enjoyable and my breakfast of eggs Benedict was very tasty. Unfortunately parking to the front of the hotel was very limited but they have a car park not too far away. Highly recommended for a short visit but unfortunately the restaurant was closed, but there are other restaurants close by.

Amazing, from checking to breakfast the attention to details was spot on. We were greeted by the owner David who showed us to our room and how everything worked. Breakfast was 10/10 never had an American break fast before but will do again all cooked fresh and tasted fantastic. The room was comfortable, quiet, shower was really nice and the Italian bath was luxurious . This is certainty a hotel we will stay at again. Perfect 2 days, can't wait for the restaurant to open again.

This is a beautiful small hotel. Rooms are well presented and the garden at the rear of the hotel is a fine place to unwind with a wee G & T. Central to Richmond but still off the main streets helps maintain a relaxing stay. The food here is absolutely superb and the service is attentive without being intrusive.

Lovely owner and hotel. Are stay was wonderful as where my son's and friends room. Breakfast was fantastic but the friendly welcome would make me go back alone. The room was quirky as you would expect. However the charm and sheer Britishness of the establishment should be celebrated. I thourghly enjoyed are stay.

Stayed in the bridal suite on first inspection the room looked lovely but looking closer the paint is peeling off in the passage to the bathroom and on the ceiling near the wardrobe. The curtain fabric has come away from the rings and there was a large plastic sheet over the ceiling above the fireplace where there been a leak. The bath although jacuzzi is so small you would struggle to get an adult in it (this is not shown on the website) but the most annoying thing being asked to pay £10 each corkage fee when asking for 2 wine glasses to enjoy a drink in our room that we had bought. Not worth the £285 price tag at all. Will return to Richmond as beautiful but not here . Girl on reception was absolutely lovely though.

I booked a standard room for two nights using the hotel website, which described the room as ground floor and included photographs. The room was individually designed with an eclectic combination of unusual furniture in an interesting, old, irregularly shaped space that I enjoyed. However, there were two main issues with the room:1. The window in the bedroom had been altered so that it could not be opened, and there was no means of ventilation. Propping the bathroom door open and leaving the extractor fan on didn't make much difference, and the fan was far too noisy to leave on overnight anyway.2. The paint and wallpaper was flaking off the wall and ceiling in some places in both the bedroom and bathroom (it looked as though this had been caused by a combination of damp and inadequate ventilation). My 1* rating is based on the inadequacies of the room, that I consider should not be let by the hotel (at any price) until the issues have been addressed. I had a much happier experience in the restaurant that I have reviewed separately as 5* below (Google does not allow me to add a second review):We ate breakfast twice and dinner once in the restaurant. The food was always excellent and well presented; the waiting staff helpful and attentive. The dining room was cosy and informal (some of the chairs were more comfortable than others). One small item that I will consider a genuine mistake is that number 97 on the wine menu is described as 2013 vintage, but what was delivered to the table was 2015 vintage. The restaurant is one of the top 100 places that I have eaten in.My 5* rating is based on my experience in the restaurant only. I have separately reviewed the bedroom we stayed in as 1* (above).

Only visited for an evening meal, but if the other features match the quality service and presentation, then it would make an excellent package. We discovered this small hotel while wandering about the town and booked a table for dinner immediately. The proprietor, David, was a charming and knowledgeable host; the serving staff were equally friendly and efficient, and the food was superb.

Can not fault this intimate hotel. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous & the room was perfect. Love the blue lighting in the room which is also a theme throughout the hotel. David & the team were so friendly & very helpful. Highly recommended! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
