Called up and the very first thing i was asked was 'are there any allergies' not even hello, i advised that i have a gluten allergy and the man abruptly told me they wouldnt serve me and hung up the phone, upsetting isnt even the word to be spoken to that way when it's something out of my control.

I cook chicken or cha su pork in Satay Sauce at home so it’s always fun to try it while on holiday and it didn’t disappoint. The pork was lovely and tender and the sauce excellent. The pleasant surprise were some complimentary chips that were gently spiced with a (home made possibly) salt/five spice/paprika, I’m craving more as I write this. They where rushed off their feet at 5:45pm on Friday night so I advise ordering early and be prepared to collect possibly in about an hour. Your patience will be rewarded. Cash only.

Allergy sufferers beware, was refused service! A disgrace! Tried to order from the impressive menu, while holidaying in Richmond. When asked about any allergy requirements, I told them of my nut allergy. Rather than employing standard safe food prep procedures in order to ensure my food would be free of nuts, they flatly refused to serve me. Disgraceful.

As a visitor to the area i looked for local chinese takeaway and thought i would try this one. Owner needs to go back to collage and learn good customer service. Ordered special chow mein and sweet and sour chicken.had 2 forks of each and it went straight in bin.will not be using these again

Best Chinese in the area. Recent add on from tonight.. All I can say for me is that this place deserves more than 5 stars. Its just absolutely spot on and so glad it's a regular place for me and my family to eat at. Ian and his colleagues are just amazing. Thank you so much

Food was really good. Nice and fresh king prawns used in their sweet and sour. Spring rolls very well done too, nice and crispy shell to them 👌.As for the staff, lovely and enthusiastic. They have a passion for their food and it shows.Highly recommend

Working in the area and called in last week with a work mate . Very friendly chap who served us was full of enthusiasm and clearly passionate about his food . The food was very tasty and fresh .I've called again tonight and brought another work colleague with me . Got talking to the chap again about food and he's gave us a few samples of different dishes , along with our order, which we are very grateful for. Thanks very much , lovely food and great service ..... I'll be recommending Shanghai City to all the work lads working down here . (expect to see the hi-viz roadworkers walking through your door) . Always cautious of first visit, but having read the reviews, took a chance. We needed to have no fears. Absolutely top quality, prepared to order, meant a wait time of 15 minutes but time well spent. We normally order one meal to share, experience elsewhere has left us a little short on quantity, but not here. No hesitation in recommending this establishment.
