The only downside was the noise from the extractor from the kitchen room 15 is right above it very noisy when kitchen in use

Fab wedding venue, great staff and top class food. Nothing was to hard for this place to organise.

A really nice weekend break, dinner bed and breakfast deal. Evening meal on both days great, huge portions, cooked breakfast could have been hotter. Room comfortable if a little small. Great survice generally, we were provided with extra towels coffee/tea, toilet rolls without us having to ask. Hotel full of character, comfortable arm chairs and real fires.

Very nice hotel, staff friendly and efficient, food was excellent and the service was faultless. The room itself was spacious and well equipped, the bathroom was clean and tidy with a modern rainfall shower. Only minor problems were that the shower controls did not work properly and the slight road noise coming through the single pane window. Overall experience was great and we enjoyed our stay and won't hesitate to go back again.

Pros: Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was pretty nice for the price. Main double/king bed was very comfortable. Shower, when it actually worked, was great.Cons:- We arrived later than we anticipated; we are a family of 3, our daughter is 6 years old, and we got there at about 11pm. We came to the room to find that the single sofa bed wasn't made up; there weren't even any sheets/any bedding available for this. This was quickly addressed after we asked for this, but only with a double duvet and double sheet, which didn't really fit the bed. Staff were friendly and nice about sorting the issue, and did so quickly, but I can't really understand the logic of us booking as a family, in a family room, and they didn't bother to even provide bedding for the sofa bed, never mind make it up in advance.- That night, people in the room behind us were extremely loud. Shouting at each other, playing loud music, banging their door. Again, we were in a family room... it seemed odd that we were placed near, from what I could work out, a very noisy couple, and that no one asked them to keep the noise down (this went on from about 11-1am). I don't really know what the protocol is in hotels, I don't know if hotel staff are expected to go and "police" the noise, but it was very easy to hear everything going on, which says something about the thinness of the walls between the rooms even if it wasn't the hotel's "fault".- Went and had a shower on the first morning and found a great big brown stain on my towel. Towel smelled and felt fresh, but it's not really acceptable to give people stained towels like that. Again, staff were friendly and provided new towels but not acceptable and very off-putting.- Second morning, I had a shower and my partner went to have one and there was no hot water. At this point we were about to have breakfast and leave so couldn't be bothered to make a fuss about it, luckily she had somewhere else close by to have a shower as an alternative.Lastly, and this is just personal preference really and not a "complaint" as such; the room was pretty odd and strangely proportioned! The bathroom was enormous, but didn't have a bath, just a shower... So I feel like it would have made more sense to either stick a bath in the bathroom to add a bit of luxury, or to shrink the bathroom to have a bigger bedroom. Not sure that this was thought out all that well, but obviously not a huge deal as long as you don't mind just having a shower. It's probably worth mentioning that there is no bath though because I couldn't find this information anywhere on their website before booking, and I specifically asked and was told "there are two beds" - I had to ask again about a bath and was finally told there wasn't one. So - there's no bath - if that's important to you.Altogether I won't be back, and I'm glad we were out and about and busy and only really came back to go to sleep.

Great stay, lovely room spacious and bright. Food was delicious and hearty, but this was all brought together by friendly and professional staff. Well worth a visit.

Room was thick with dust, radiator didn't work, constantly cold, paint peeling off the walls. Hotel side of the business needs a serious scrub! Everything else was fine. Wouldn't rush back in a hurry though

We stayed here for a party doo, on arrival everything was good. People/staff friendly and helpful when checking in. However when it comes to the bar being staffed, the place could do with a few extra hands. Went to the bar early evening and nobody to be seen, waited around 15 to 20 mins. Breakfast was very nice however had to wait around quite a while, no bread and no plates in continental area. The point at which this stay was extremely let down is the room. As you can see from the pictures the room was very run down and we got some sort of bites from sleeping over, not sure where from but we got pillows from the cupboard and the bites were in the upper body and arm area. Shame really as this could be a really nice spot as it is located in a really lovely area.

No aircon even thought website said there was. Had to climb 3 sets of stairs and go through lots of doors. However, room was really clean and comfy. Shower room smelt of stale smoke a bit

My partner and I went for a meal. I ordered the tempura vegetables for starters. Oh my word! They were delicious! Why have I never eaten tempura vegetables before? I may just go back one day and order two helpings and have it as a main course!!For my main I had the sizzling chicken platter. It too was delicious. The portion size was huge! So much so that I asked for the rest in a take home box, which they seemed a little surprised at. Has no one ever asked before I wonder? And then dessert. There's always room for dessert. I had the chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream. Yummy.Service became a little slow as the place started to fill and it is maybe a little pricey, but an enjoyable meal and I will be going back....... If only for the tempura vegetables!!!!!
