Costello's Bakery in Ryedale

Having just visited Costellos I can honestly say that I definitely wouldn't return.On arrival we sat at the only table available, it had a tray full of dirty cups etc on it.I sat down and my Husband went to the counter. He stood there for almost ten minutes without any acknowledgement from the two members of staff behind the counter. When the girl finally took his order there wasn't any apology for the wait and the fact that the other people in the queue had been totally ignored up until that point.Coffees were made relatively quickly. The guy called out they were ready, hubby fetched them again no courtesy from this Guy.They had made numerous mistakes with the other customers orders who also didn't seem too pleased.Out table was never cleaned. No thank you and goodbye as we left. They both just stood chatting .What a shame such a lovely establishment is being let down by their staff.

Today will be the last time I visit costellos, having been a customer for up to 10 years now when they were first in headingley I just feel more and more disappointed each visit over the years. First disappointment was when they started to plastic wrap all their cakes. I then visited last year and asked for a extra portion of butter for my scone that was soft from being plastic wrapped. I was told by the supervisor that she couldn't give me another one as it would come out of her wage? I was willing to pay for it but wasn't given this option. Today I visited again as a wanted to stay loyal to the business but once again was let down. I orders my usual of a scone and coffee, the service was poor with staff not really seeming to know what they were doing. I asked if the pot of yellow spread was butter that they had provided and was told I "think it will be butter" turn sout it wasn't butter at all just cheap spread and then when I asked for butter I was told that they couldn't get a delivery if butter???? Surely the sainsburys supermarket next door would have been more than willing to sell them some? No one has a scone with margarine. My partner also feels the same and unfortunately we wont be returning now.

Had a reasonable selection of Gluten Free and knew exactly what I could have. Please add some savories to the choices though. Those pies looks lovely and were enjoyed by 2 of my friends. Coffee was good too.

Lovely cakes and treats and the best brownies 😋I've ordered three times now and the last order included a birthday present....the Truffle Cake Bombs, which I was told were amazing! Always come excellently packaged and in a few days.

Quite disappointed with delivery services!!Ordered mini cakes and brownies on 5th April through the website to be delivered on 9th April for my mother in law’s birthday. I was following up on messenger as well to make sure they are delivered on time. They were meant to be delivered today but couldn’t deliver because of some scanning issues!! It was convenient for them to offer a refund or next available delivery coming Tuesday (13th April) which is far away and leaves no point of birthday surprise. I couldn’t arrange anything myself because I don’t live in the UK, leaving me with no option but to have them delivered on Tuesday because no bakers would take an urgent order on such short notice. Can’t say much about the products but definitely not recommended for timely deliveries.

Fantastic service and drinks. Had a lovely flat white first and went back in again for the Lotus Biscuit milkshake which was delicious. Also had a handy map to look at whilst you wait of Malton

Absolute gem of a cafe in Malton. Super friendly and helpful staff. They have a great book and toy exchange with plenty of room for buggies and a safe play area for the little ones. The selection of cakes is amazing and very tasty too! The cafe has a really good community spirit feel about it and I can't wait to come back again with my little one.

Had tea & coffee and toasted teacakes on our first visit here. Was dog-friendly, handy as we had the dog with us, and service also friendly and efficient. Toilet (singular) fairly basic but separate baby change was a good idea. Toilet not wheelchair accessible though. Recommended as good range of cakes etc.
