Harpers Fish & Chip Restaurant in Ryedale

Amazing fish and chips to end our holiday on a high note! Sat outside on picnic benches. Homemade tarter sauce was the icing on the cake!

The waiter wasn't the warmest of characters. The fish was a bit thin in places and the brown bread order came out as mixed which was changed on request. Nevertheless, the bread felt like it had dried out a bit and snapped as opposed to bent when making your chip/fish buttie. A small thing, but I would prefer bread cut rectangular as opposed to triangles, triangles are no good for making butties as they don't fold well with chips/fish in them.

Have frequently used Harpers andusually have no complaints, however this evening the chips were cold and looked as if they had been sat for quite a while and the fish was dry with a strange taste. Very disappointed at having to leave half our tea especially when it's not such a cheap option anymore.

Admittedly it was late Sunday but the service was slow. The fish and chips were of a reasonable standard and cooked in beef dripping which I don't prefer. Thankfully the vegetarian with us was very hungry that day The batter was ok with the fish cooked well. I prefer the chips a little browner. Good variety of drinks.The outside space was untidy with an overflowing bin but around the corner the other bins were largely empty.The staff were obviously ready to end the shift, looking tired and almost unhappy there was extra customers arriving and placing orders.These issues are easily rectified to make a five star experience and I am being a bit zealous perhaps.

Been going here for several years. However, it is now under new ownership, so we were a bit sceptical. Forget those fears because on our last recent visit, the food and staff were excellent. Highly recommended.

After a day of green laning grabbing a large battered sausage and chips with curry sauce is the perfect way to wrap the day up! Great service and great food and a perfect pit stop when driving back from the moors!

Arrived here lunch time, to be greeted by a lovley woman who made us feel right at home, this place was very clean, tidy alongside the great service and food!

Amazing restaurant!The size of the meals were well worth the value and some of the best fish and chips we've had in some time.Clean tables, clean toilets, great music and wonderful staff, if you're any where near I highly recommend.

The fish and chips here are Quality! And a decent size.Slightly more expensive than some places, but you get what you pay for here.I have only been to the takeaway counter so far, so can't review the actual restaurant.Situated on the A64 about 4 miles out of Scarborough it's a good place to go when travelling through the area as it has its own small car parkThere is a petrol station next door, so you can feed your car up as well.

Great restaurant and take away. The car park is free and there are picnic tables to use if you want to sit outside with your take away.We ate in the restaurant and the food was lush! Definitely the biggest fishcakes I think I have ever had!The staff were very helpful and attentive.The restaurant has wheelchair access and a disabled loo - I didn't check to see if it had an adult or child change table, so you might want to give them a call on this one.The ladies loos were very clean and had completely closed cubicals (no gaps under the doors or walls)We had a lovely meal and will definitely stop off again on our way home from Scarborough 👍
