La Trattoria in Ryedale

What an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff were first class and despite it being busy, they couldn't do enough to make the experience excellent. This is clearly a very well-run establishment with a can-do attitude and whom go out of their way to please. The food is first class and is excellent value for money. Although not openly advertised, their kids menu was itself such amazing value for money and the kids food was cooked with every bit as much care and attention and the adults was. Robyn (aged 8 and a half) described the pasta sauce as "simply the best pasta sauce I have ever tasted in my whole life!" Now, what you need to know about Robyn, is that she is a dedicated and self-proclaimed 'pasta expert' and is a veteran of what is estimated to be some 500 pasta dishes. She added, "it was even better than 'Daddy's pasta'!" Which, whilst that certainly bruised my ego somewhat, was indeed an accurate account. Seriously though, this is an excellent place and I would strongly advise you to pre-book at anytime, such is it's deserved popularity. Well done to the team!

Beef shin ragu special was absolutely sensational! Very generous portion too considering this was a small plate.Pizza was pretty good, but more of a New York style than Neapolitan style (I prefer the latter much more).Tiramisu was a bit of a letdown though, a bit of a strange sour taste and almond heavy. Not my cup of tea.

Good food with a wide range of dishes. Excellent service from a professional, well trained staff and the prices are low - £13 for a 2 course meal (generous portions) at the time of our visit (July 2022).

Whilst visiting Helmsley decided to try La Trattoria for lunch, which turned out to be an excellent decision! Had the three course lunchtime menu. The portion sizes were excellent for a light lunch, the quality of the food was tremendous. I would particularly recommend the chicken and mushroom risotto, delicious. Just to add the service was very very good too. Highly recommended!

We popped in without booking over Easter - a bit of a risk. It was full but we sat at the bar and had wine and a starter. By the time we were ready for a main they managed to find us a table. The food was excellent - both pizza and pasta, the atmosphere was also great and the staff lovely and attentive. Highly recommended.

£3.50 for a cappuccino and a pastry, I must say that both were exceptional.And friendly efficient service.Highly recommended

I love a good Italian and thought I would give La Trattoria Italian in Helmsley a try while visiting family for the Christmas break but I was absolutely disgusted what was delivered to us and how they sent a Pizza out like this is just beyond me (burnt, dry and the wrong pizza toppings, photos show exactly what we got delivered). Definitely not going back here and wouldn’t recommend to anyone after a good Italian.

AMAZING food! Possibly the best tomato soup and pesto pasta I’ve had in years. Knocked down a star for service- very kind but slow (took over 30 min to get check and had two very tired children).

Stopped in for a meal, luckily there was a table for us. Lovely pizza, and the pasta was good too. Service excellent, very quick, and reasonable prices. Will go back.
