Lovely homemade food. The scones have to be the best I have ever had hands down and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back next time I am down this way

Best fig scones I've ever had crisp on the outside and thick and moist inside service was great very welcoming

Limited menu, so had a normal cold sandwich which came with a tiny bit of salad served up on a very warm plate. Then I noticed the anti-vaccine propaganda plastered over the wall by the toilets. If that is the opinion of the proprietors then I'd advise people to stay away if they want to stay well.

Just the sort of uplifting coffee break that most other cafes fail to create. Thank you so much to all of you staff for putting more logs on the fire beside me, fussing my rescue dog MacDoggan, and serving a piping hot good sized Americano with a very good date scone and - not being mean with the butter.Lovely choice of sensibly priced cakes and the kind of more costly sandwiches you might not find elsewhere but there on offer to tempt you to treat yourself and make the visit to Helmsley a memorable occasion. 5*

Had a latte and a "greedy porter".... Delicious. Cosy cafe just off the main square.#purplenanatravels

Food's OK and there is a wood burning stove for people who like that sort of thing. An unmasked server wandered around frequently coughing. Large display of highly misleading and deviously worded anti-vaxx propaganda posters by the one loo. There are quite a few other cafes in Helmsley - I think I'll try one of the others next time.

A most delightful experience. Friendly welcoming staff and an open fire on a chilly winters morning. My only regret now is I never left a bigger tip BUT I'll make up for it next time I'm up that way

I arrived at Porters Coffee shop looking for refreshments and somewhere cool and relaxing to rest after 35 miles of a 55 mile bike ride round the York vale in 30°C+ heat. I was met by 3 lovely smiling and cheerful ladies who immediately made me feel very welcome. I chose cream tea and 2 bottles of fruit juice to which they provided 2 glasses full with ice. I sat myself down in their lovely courtyard which was shaded and cool. It was very picturesque and had a lovely sommery atmosphere to it. My cream tea came within 5 minutes and was absolutely delicious. Home baked fruit Scone, fresh clotted cream and locally sourced jam. I sat down and rested listening to radio 4 that was playing classical music. What better way to spend a half hour recovering from an extremely hard bike ride. The ladies were polite and chatty not just with me but to all the other guests. The Coffee shop inside was just as idyllic as it was outside, tastefully put together with lots of character. I would recommend Porters Coffee shop to any poor soul cyclist or to anyone else for that matter.

Amazing place to eat homemade panini’s ciabatta, sandwitches and variety of homemade soup. I was suprised how many selections of tea I found in the coffee shop. My black english tea came with cinamon carmelized biscuits. Very tasty panini with homemade salad/garnish with fresh roasted vegetables. Very friendly and helpful staff made our day feel special. If are in Helmsley this is a MUST.
