The Black Swan Hotel in Ryedale

Lovely rooms with thick walls, comfortable big bed, decent shower,bath, hairdryer. Pretty quiet. Staff are friendly. Food is excellent with interesting menu. Decent full English breakfast.

Fantastic staff and excellent food. Fish was perfectly cooked and delicious, as was the sticky toffee pudding. Great children's menu too. We'll definitely be returning soon.

A beautiful hotel. Personally I found the accommodation excellent, bed was perfect. Staff, wow, just great. The service was as though it was a family run business. Nothing was too much trouble and attention to detail amazing. Delightful stay

Nice location lovely village and surrounding but the hotel disappointing particularly for the price. The hotel could be a real gem as the staff are brilliant and cannot do enough. Where it falls down is it needs a real deep clean everywhere is dusty dirty and just not kept. Food is okay but limited if you are staying more than a couple of nights. A big recommendation is book other restaurants in the village there are some great one but most are fully booked every night.Overall could be great but just misses the mark.

Nice overnight stay...food was very good, evening meal served by Julia a lovely young girl who deserves a special mention. ORoom was was great however the bathroom not so... A large crack in the wash basin and the bath was worse which meant water leaked onto bathroom floor. However management did make compensation to us quickly.

Visited for lunch today which was a 95 mile journey and it was well worth it! Extremely welcoming atmosphere and wonderful customer service throughout our visit. Our food was freshly prepared, well presented and delicious. Great to find a traditional pub serving superb food and quality beer which is hard to find these days. Can’t wait to return.

My Wife and I have just returned from a two night stay at 'The Black Swan' in Helmsley. Absolutely 1st class and more from start to finish. The refurbishment which was explained to us is amazing and created an instant positive ambience, stylish, but cosy at the same time. The Staff were wonderful, attentive and created a warm welcome from start to finish. The menu and food was excellent and the accommodation was also perfect. Without doubt an ideal getaway Hotel gem for those who want something special, will return soon. With thanks to the wonderful Staff who run a happy tight ship, Regards, Mr & Mrs Carson.

Had lunch yesterday as a treat without our toddler. It was really amazing- we were treated so lovely and so welcoming by all the staff and the food was as good as any I've ever had. My venison was delicious and hubby loved the monkfish. The best scallops I've had this side of the Atlantic. Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon out!

We booked room 10 with a stunning view of Helmsley’s square and its castle. The room was large and full of character with an immaculate bathroom (including a good shower) and was well furnished with a comfortable king-sized bed, comfy chairs and a large LG smart TV. The food was incredible and the service exceptional. Staff were friendly and chatty, and the pub atmosphere was incredibly welcoming with its open fires in every room and dogs relaxing under most tables. We will be booking our return visit very soon!
