Where is The Cresswell Arms?

🏠 The Cresswell Arms, Appleton-le-Street YO17 6PG

"Sadly at this time The Cresswell Arms is closed, Due to a horrific fire the property is simply in a tragic state and will have to have.much extensive work to reopen. Rory, Emily and all the dedicated team of staff and regulars are heartbroken. A traditional Yorkshire pub with rooms. Family run giving a genuine warm welcome in surroundings that are peaceful and full of character. The Cresswell Arms is a true destination offering superb comfortable rooms with a traditional public bar and lounge. The dining room is spacious, airy and light. Starting in September we will be offering a variety of quality foods. From the historic basket meal to a classy daily menu. We source local produce with an emphasis on freshly cooked to order delights."

We just had our first visit to the newly re-opened restaurant.Excellent service, a nice menu, great beer and good value for money. The dining area was managed sensibly within the current restrictions but still felt friendly and comfortable. The host and staff are very attentive and helpful. My mixed grill was a treat for the eyes and taste buds. We'll be back !

Rory, Emily & staff at the Cresswell Arms provided excellent service during our one-night stay, we felt very looked after. Our evening meal was delicious (bavette streak & the burger, chocolate tart) and, again, the service was excellent. Breakfast was again, delicious. The room was cosy, the bed comfortable and had everything we needed (TV, brew kit & water). Highly recommended.

Made very welcome. Whatever we requested the hosts supplied with a smile. Easy to get round from room to pub and dining, my gluten free diet was not an issue. It was lovely to stay in a place that was not the same as hotel chain type accommodation. Fresh milk in a china jug, China cups and saucers, a lovely touch. Lovely location, we have recommended to family and friends and would go again. Thank you we wish you every success.

We stayed at the Cresswell arms when we were up for a ghost hunt at Eden Camp museum. So glad we chose this place as our base. Beautiful room, beautiful breakfast in the morning, and the staff were lovely and friendly. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

It's the first time we've been there since the new landlord and landlady took over. Really welcoming surroundings and the makeover has seen significant changes : spacious restaurant area with excellent decor + a bar that attracts locals and is dog friendly. The menu caters for all tastes and is very reasonably priced starters range from garlic mushrooms to a mixed sharing platter ( which is a meal in itself )My partner had fish and chips and said it was so fresh it could have been caught that morning .I had chicken breast stuffed with black pudding in a whiskey white sauce fresh seasonal veg and chips which were more like wedges. First rate food Excellent service and the owners themselves were so friendly it was as if we'd been going there years. My partner mentioned in passing it was my birthday : we declined desserts as we were both so full but out came chocolate brownie with ice cream and happy birthday piped in chocolate : such a great touch these two people care about their customers . A lovely meal in great surroundings in friendly company what more could you ask for on a cold winters night : a log fire perhaps yes that was lit and just added to the ambience. I'd recommend the Cresswell Arms to anyone : we'll certainly be going back .

Thank you so much to Mark & Emily for making our stay so lovely. They even personalised the room for our daughters birthday. Great food too! They provided so much info on surrounding areas and where to visit. We went to flamingo land which is not too far away and I couldn’t think of a nicer place to stay than the Cresswell Arms. Highly recommend! We will be back x

Really lovely place. New managers are friendly and welcoming. The establishment is very well appointed and clean, with lovely seating areas. There is a nice outdoor seating area and they have attractive looking holiday cottages. The food is excellent. The portions are fantastic and the quality is superb. Service was a little slow the other day but we were warned it would be, as they are still building the business they are clearly running a skeleton kitchen crew. Don't let that put you off though, it is the sort of place and standard of food you are happy o wait for.

Stayed a few weeks ago for one night for a friends wedding. Service was very friendly and room was spotless. Breakfast was pretty good too. Only downsides, no iron available in the room and no mobile reception in the area. Otherwise, the staff were all very welcoming

(She was the theme in our room.)The only slight problem was a dicky TV set.Overall, I'd thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone.

My girlfriend and I stayed here and the food was excellent. Breakfast and dinner were fantastic. The pub was a cozy countryside style pub and we had great evenings talking over a few drinks. The service was great. Attentive and friendly managers/owners and staff. The room was good, cozy, warm and comfortable. Would certainly stay here again
