Gorgeous hotel.Big and cozy room with all you could need, great offerings for food and drink from room service to the bar to the restaurant and very helpful staff. Will definitely come again! We didn’t bring the dogs this time as we’re attending a wedding locally but I love that they allow dogs in bedrooms too. Makes it even more likely we’ll be back.

Just come home from a wonderful couple of nights at the Talbot. We had a lovely time, the place was spotless, all the staff pleasant and helpful, nothing was to much trouble, the food was delicious , piping hot and beautifully presented. Our room was lovely, very comfortable, spacious bathroom, the shower was amazing I could've stayed in it for hours 😁 .I have just one small criticism, the furniture in the bedroom was rustic and solid, lovely ,however the one piece that was not so pleasing to the eye, was the drawers straight in front of the bed, with the TV on, I just wish it had been matching the other pieces.

Stayed for a night with my girlfriend and some friends. Accommodation was excellent with a large comfy bed and amazing bath/shower, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I would have given five stars but the food in the restaurant that evening was a bit disappointing. Our food took a very long time to arrive and the “iron steak” (that three of us had) was quite chewy. Would highly recommend the accommodation, and other items on the menu may be better than the steak I had.

Looking forward to a well earned evening out with a pal, with our focus on catching up.From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with friendly attentive staff, enjoyed 2 delicious cocktails in the cosy lounge, before moving to the dining room which a lovely buzz.Every member of staff was a natural, knew their dishes and always appeared at the right moment.Food was delicious, as was the wine so a perfect balance.Have converted my pal to this as her new Go To place.Well done Team Talbot

Returned first time since covid. Booked lazy Sunday deal. Check in and room OK. Evening meal excellent, both lamb and beef cooked to perfection. Staff also first rate. Had drinks in bar and staff were friendly and helpful. Went down hill in the morning. Breakfast poor quality and service slow and poor. Even worse at check out. Even though meal previous night was included still tried to insist we had to pay again. Eventually the very unhelpful receptionist said in a grumpy voice she would sort it,it made us feel like criminals. Spoilt experience. Will not return.

The Talbot at Malton is dog friendly and has the highest standards of customer care and service. The Talbot is scrupulously clean , tidy and well laid out making the most of its natural wood features. The food standard is magnificent and compares favourably with any Michelin Star establishment . Add to this the extensive grounds and gardens it's the ideal place to go to recharge your energies and walk your dog without needing to venture into Malton or the Yorkshire Moors . On the whole it's one of the pleasantest places I've stayed world wide.

We booked afternoon tea which was the poorest we have ever had. The choice of sandwiches was good but some of the bread was crispy dry. The two scones were as hard as bricks. We did get them replaced. The choice of cakes leaves much to be desired, no nice light sponge here, the cakes were solid affairs that didn’t entice us want to eat them. The log fire and the friendly staff are all that made our special time out special. We won’t be partaking of afternoon tea here again.

Visited last night with friends who are locals, after trying to call the day before and that day to book a table for food, we decided to turn up for drinks and order food at the time. We arrived to a quiet hotel at 5pm and enquired after food. The front of house staff were lovely, Myles especially and said they would ask the chef. They returned to advise that Peter would not prepare us food unless we had booked. A table behind had just eaten and couldn't quite believe it, as it was quiet. We stayed drinking for about two hours and paid a bar bill of over £125. The next eating guests arrived about an hour after our first request for food and from then on watched a steady service. I'm sure Peter the chef could of easily made two covers between 5pm and 7pm without breaking a sweat, but he just didn't want to, despite the front of houses best efforts. I was amazed to be visiting and them not seeming to give two hoots to the locals that support this business all year round! Also if this was a locally owned establishment rather than a corporate owned chain, would the attitude of the chef of been the same? As in he gets his wages regardless, so can easily refuse food as it doesn't effect him directly. I'm sorry but felt so strongly about this had to share my experience.

Equisite! Incredible food, amazing hotel rooms, the loveliest and most attentive staff. We only stayed one night but it was faultless. Can't wait to return and spend some more time in this wonderful, wonderful place. Thank you!

An absolute treasure of a hotel. The decor is a beautiful mix of old and new and our room was gorgeous! The attention to detail is amazing from the soothing music playing on a Roberts radio, excellent coffee machine and even the lamps on to give a welcoming feeling. The bed is so comfortable! We had a 3 course meal, it was the best we've ever had and the staff! So lovely... Especially Rui. Thank you for an amazing stay we can't wait to come back
