There are three roads into Hawnby. My advice is simple, take one of them as quickly as possible and deposit yourself at the Owl. The welcome is immediate, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the food is amazing, the wine list impressive and the rooms comfortable with all necessary ecoutremants.Decorated thoughtfully throughout with some great little touches. Outside in the garden is a shepherd's hut that serves food and drink and a smoker that's used on meats and fish.We arrived as strangers on Monday and left as friends on Wednesday looking forward to our next visit. The photograph was my view of the surrounding countryside as I ate breakfast.

Fantastic friendly atmosphere, great quiet location, great rooms with the comfiest bed in the world. Superb 'Al fresco' dining option, with wood burning stove pizza. Excellent staff who couldn't do enough for you, really made our Silver Wedding celebrations very special. Would recommend and go again.

We stayed at the Owl for two days and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to help (Chris was especially helpful). The location was excellent and good for short or long walks. Our room had stunning views. The food was a four star but we decided on a five star overall.

What a hidden gem. Lovely location and scenery everywhere you look.Nice decor and furnishings. A cross between a boutique hotel and country Inn.Food was good and no crazy prices.Staff busy but friendly and helpful.Would highly recommend 👌

We came for a meal only and as a vegan the options were very limited. The chef's did make a meal that was not on the menu to accommodate but I feel expanding the menu to provide for more dietary requirements would be the natural progression here.Parking - Lots of parking around the back of the premises however this isn't clearly signposted so was not immediately clearBeer garden - Although we did not sit outside the front and rear of the pub had a very aesthetically pleasing lookInterior - The pub is decorated with many dead animals so could feel intimidating or off-putting to some. Otherwise the décor is tasteful and modern

Had a fabulous stay at The Owl. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of hot water, rainfall shower and the food was so good we ate there every night of our stay. If you want to get away from it all this is the place to visit. So peaceful.

We arrived amid the Sunday lunch rush but was quickly shown to our room with no fuss. The room itself was external to the main building but was perfect for us as we had our dog with us, it was warm and spacious with a lovely bathroom, the views were amazing. The food was very good and well presented. Now for the negatives. 3 days before arrival I rang to book our table for Sunday lunch, each time it went to voicemail but could not leave a message as the mailbox was full, I then reserved a table online but as it said it needed to be confirmed before arrival, I waited but no reply. We were asked on our arrival if we wanted a table as they were busy. The menus were great but not everything was available, this was the same for breakfast, although what you got on your plate was great. The bar choice was poor as they were low on wines and had no lemonade, we were told they were waiting for deliveries whenever they couldn't supply drinks or food from the menus. A suggestion for the outdoor rooms would be a boot tray, we had muddy boots from walking and were conscious of dirtying the carpets. Overall, it's a beautiful place, great views, very well presented but needs to improve on the customer service.

We had a very relaxing 3 night break in a comfortable king size room. Breakfasts were excellent and set us up nicely for a full day's walking in the stunning surrounding hills, the game sausage was particularly memorable! All of the staff were very helpful and attentive and their friendly approach made our stay all the more enjoyable. Our four legged friend was with us and she was made equally welcome curling up in front of the log fire in the bar at the end of the day. Our evening meals were every bit as tasty and enjoyable as our breakfasts - a beautiful and breathtaking location plus great hospitality so we will definitely be back.

Really nice pub food and a roaring fire. Just what we needed after a long walk. They were very accommodating to our party of 7 when we decided to stay for lunch after just walking in for a drink. They also catered well for my kids allergies with no fuss at all. Highly recommended.

The Owl at Hawnby is a Great place for a long weekend stay, a fantastic meal or just a pint after a walk. The views out over the moors are excellent and, when the weather permits, there is a garden with enough room for 100 guests and a pizza oven to cater for them.In Winter the smell of the wood fire greets you and then the food will encourage you to stay. We treated ourselves to a large steak, a bottle of red and fresh sticky toffee pudding but the highlight of the meal was the charcuterie platter. All the meats are smoked, cured and prepared by the team and they are sensationally good. I only photographed part if the portion because it was so delicious.A highly recommended location with great staff and a caring Management Team.
