The Royal Oak Hotel in Ryedale

Great pub. The owners and staff could not have been more welcoming and customers were very friendly too. There was live music on when we visited which was a class act. We will be back.

Just called in for a toilet stop, for the kids and bought a quick drink. Toilets were ladies okay. Men's was not so good, basically due to the stench of urine, they also had door propped open so made the whole area smell.Service was quick and efficient. The bar lady shared flags for the kids. They loved that.

Prior to walking Cleveland Way stayed in town and there are three main pubs. The Feathers, The Black Swan and The Royal Oak. We choose the Royal Oak as seemed more down to earth pub we were looking for. The others two I’m sure were good but seemed too formal. We wanted pub grub. We eat meals on two evenings and contrary to some previous reviews on TA we were pleased with the food on both evenings as well as the friendly cheerful staff/ owners. The lounge side is calmer to bar side but that’s true of any traditional pub layout. The prices were reasonable. Would recommend for drink and pub grub.

We popped in for a quick drink. Warm and friendly welcome. Reasonable priced drinks. Have a TV and they had the horse racing on, which was a plus for us but might not suit others. They have a small, cute dog, which was very friendly. He came and sat on my knee. Told that it is fully dog friendly, including bedrooms. Again not a problem for us, but might not suit everyone. Will call in again, had a buzzing vibe which was lovely.

Great family run pub. Food was excellent an very well portioned,staff where very family friendly. Helped my son start off his bottle top collection with a massive pile 😆😆Also as a fair few places you have to prebook in advance we found to our horror. The royal oak was if you can sit you can eat which with a family on a quick break type of holiday us great..Many thanks..

We had an excellent quality tasty meal here tonight. Good portion size and value for money . The beer was also wellKept . Probably the best pint of hob goblin I’ve had . The service from the staff was efficient and very friendly

Called for lunch in this welcoming pub on the market Square in Helmsley. Very friendly staff couldn't do more for us. My friends request for more gravy for her homemade steak pie was no problem. She even got a doggy bag as she couldn't manage to finish it, but couldn't bear to leave it! My scampi with home made delicious chips was lovely. Great selection of local beers as well.

A tired looking establishment serving mainly locals,a nice fire welcoming your arrival on cold days.The drink selection seems aimed at the lager drinker although there were two real ales on offer that were well priced.The young barmaid could do without showing quite as much flesh as was on show ,too many mince pies I assume.

Spent a lovely Winter evening here. There was a slight mix up with our table booking but this was very quickly rectified and we had a cosy table by the fire.Staff were attentive and friendly and there was a good menu choice available.Our main meal choices were fish and chips which was very nice, although the batter could have done with being a little crispier, and the lamb shank with minted gravy which was delish.Mulled wine and a mince pie for £4.50 was a nice festive finish 🍷🎄The pub itself was busy and had a good atmosphere.
