This place didn't disappoint, after calling in for what we agreed was for one drink we stayed for a few and had s meal too.The staff were welcoming and friendly in this historic establishment.Food...roasted beetroot with goats cheese was fabulous, I like starters while my wife likes desserts.Mains...sirloin steak which was very tasty according to my wife, and I had the battered cod which overflowed the plate and was very fresh, the mushy peas were fantastic, I don't know how they can make them so tasty.Desert, my wife went for the parsnip ice cream, this was made on site by the chef and it certainly tasted of parsnip, very nice.Overall I would highly recommend anyone to visit the White Swan for a quality meal in a we'll run establishment.

Went for an evening meal on recommendation of the hotel we were staying at. Lovely old coaching inn with very friendly attentive staff. The food was amazing with good sized portions. I had the lamb for main and my husband had the sirloin steak both cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend coming here for a meal it will not disappoint.

Had a great overnight stay here, our room was lovely and spotlessly clean. We had our evening meal in the restaurant the food was delicious and the service was top class. The staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble and they were so on the ball! Will definitely be returning very soon.

Overall a very good stay. The breakfast was very good with delicious home made black pudding, dinner had a nice and varied selection. The bar had a decent selection of ales and along with log fires had a very cosy environment. The bedroom was large with the four poster bed looking very impressive although difficult to get in and out when having to pay a visit in middle of night. The only complaint and why not 5 stars was the shower. The volume was little more than a dribble and the temperature variable. This was mentioned during our stay and the comment received back was that's how it is!!

Excellent staff, excellent food, very clean public areas and rooms. A credit to staff and management. One downside was external locks on both rooms we used did require attention. Knowing how well the rest of the hotel was run,I'm sure they will now be fixed.

We had a meal this evening:The initial offered IPA wasn't available - not a problem - simply selected the second choice.Starter was delicious but the bread seemed stale - we mentioned it.Salt pot on table empty - asked for refill (it happens).Mains - both great (chicken and steak).Nail protruding from one chair (on the inside - bit that catches clothes) so was mentioned because you would - not an issue, we were now aware of it.Desert - ordered 5 cheeses (six offered and I said no cheddar) but received cheddar not Wenslydale.Asked for the bill and mentioned the cheese. Apparently, the cheese was correct, everyone (staff) thought we were being difficult and rude throughout the evening (presumably not including the waitress who spent five minutes talking to us and stroking our dog just prior) and the cheese was still correct (it wasn't) - "did we want a free meal or something" - really....We have never been treated with such distain. We paid but didn't leave a tip.Absolutely unbelievable and we will never return.

The room was great and I was able to park my car right outside the room itself. Underfloor heating was a nice touch. The food in the restaurant was also very good, having tried both the breakfast and evening meal.Would stay again! :)

Wonderful 16th century Inn with lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great staff who couldn't do enough for us. Beautiful rooms and some are dog friendly. Delicious food cooked to a high standard. The location is right in the centre of Pickering so great for getting the steam train for a day out. We will definitely be returning.

We found this gem of a hotel/pub whilst away for 3 nights in Pickering.. we sat by the open fire last night for drinks and decided to book for a meal tonight. The restaurant can be highly recommended delicious food and professional staff. A special mention to the young man behind the bar who was friendly, professional and nothing was to much trouble..
