Afternoon Tea at The Palm Court Hotel in Scarborough

Lovely hotel and staff, very nice breakfast and comfortable beds would definitely stay again

We spent four nights with our grandson at hotel. Staff could not do enough for us and made us feel very welcome. The food is delicious and our room very clean. We have tried other hotels in Scarborough but this one is by far the best we will definitely be back.

Staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. Room was comfortable but could have done with air conditioning and mini fridge. Breakfast was great as was lunch but we did not have an evening meal at the hotel. Location was great near some great restaurants. You are within 5 minutes of the town centre and 15 minute stroll to the beach.

Brilliant afternoon tea - Savoury one - Fish special - was delicious and great value. Love Afternoon Tea at Palm Court. Always makes it a special occasion and great experience.

On arrival I was greeted well by receptionist I booked a room here for 2 nights paid a princely sum for what I thought would be a decent sized room but unfortunately the room had barely enough space to walk around the bed, very small room, the bath was small and shower screen not fit for purpose which made showering difficult, breakfast was poor quality too considering the amount paid I have had better food and space in a budget hotel also the website photo's of hotel give you the impression that parking is outside the hotel but then you find out that's a public car park and parking is down the street. Overall great location lovely staff, but very poor value for money, I don't think I will be going back anytime soon, although I will return to Scarborough because it was a lovely place to visit.

Lovely hotel with wonderful staff. Our room was huge and posh with the only negative being a poor window view. We loved the breakfasts here and the lounge area was really relaxing. It's a shame Scarborough itself turned out to be so rough, especially at night. If this hotel wasn't in Scarborough we'd definitely visit again due to the brilliant service we received.

Mutton dressed as Lamb HotelHotel looks nice when you arrive. Please be aware you do not park inside the NCP with the sign above it saying Palm Court Hotel Car Park. Carry on down the slope to the right to the underground car park on the left as you go down.We arrived at reception.The receptionist neither welcomed or said Hello and looked like she had sat through The Exorcist 20 times in a row.This is the first impression you get from a hotel and her manner was stony faced and miserable.I told her we had parked in the underground car park as I'd checked carefully beforehand.No she said you are in the wrong car park you need to move your car. No I said we are in the correct car park underground.She said again can I have your car park ticket. I didn't get one we are in the correct car park. It went back and forth until she finally listened to what I was saying.Asked if we had been there before so I expected a smile and a welcome, when I said no just stuck her hand out and said breakfast is through there and took a time.The rooms were decent, premium rooms, nice bedding, very comfortable beds and a lovely shower. They must vary from room to room as a review below had a terrible shower but ours was great.It was hot in there and they had a fan which was very welcomed. Housekeeping were friendly and excellent and i left a nice tip I appreciate good service.Checked in and in my room, exhausted from working so much and a long drive, I settled down to grab a cheeky afternoon sleep so did my elderly mum....bliss........then the alarms went off, the alarms went off periodically about 15- 20 times for about an hour/hour half.I called reception (after about alarm 10, I understand things happen) as I kept trying to settle back to sleep again before the next alarm went but never could. As it was going off so much I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to continue all night as I would need to checkout. No answer. After alarm 18 I went downstairs to check if it was happening all over and it was, a different receptionist came straight up to me and said we have called all rooms about the alarm 6 didn't answer and one of them was you.BLATANTLY LIED TO ME. I told her I had been in the room all that time and she is lying about calling the room, there was NO call and I asked my mum who also was trying to get rest and she never received a call either. She just lied to my face. Once she realised I'd caught her out she said sorry and offered me a drink which I didn't want. Absolutely appalling treatment.Then an elderly man got stuck in the old and horrible lift. It was like Carry on Abroad.The breakfast was absolutely appalling, I have no idea why people are saying it's nice. The menu looks lovely, locally sourced bacon, free range eggs etc but the execution a wasteful mess. The waiters apart from 1 who was just ok were awful. Not an ounce of gumption or positivity they moved with low moral and disinterest. The lovely locally sourced bacon looked like it had been locally sourced 2 weeks previous, cooked and left for several days. My mum ordered Boiled Eggs and Soldiers that's what the menu says. Now I appreciate not everyone knows what soldiers are meant for in this context but if you are reading this from the hotel they are shaped to be able to dip into an egg yolk. The 2 eggs were several minutes overboiled and hard but it had got to the point where everything was so miserable I couldn't speak to themanymore.The person who I was staying with did say the bar staff were very nice and I like to be truthful and fair and housekeeping were great but the rest of the staff were indifferent and uninterested. Maybe this has to do with the way they are treated but you shouldn't do a job if you don't like it.People have had enough stress these like few years and just want a break.Very overpriced and REALLY disappointing. I won't be recommending this hotel to any of my clients

A jewel of a hotel in central Scarborough. Although we are locals, we regularly call in for a coffee and cake. My daughter has never felt anything but welcome there, with her baby son. The hotel is absolutely immaculate, pristine linen on the tables, and courteous and attentive staff. The restaurant is first class. A delightful oasis not to be missed. If I was booking a holiday in Scarborough; The Palm Court Hotel would be my first choice! A*****

Lovely place to stay.Great staff look after all your needs.Lovely food and comfortable bed. Though I find the pillows too soft.Bespoke free parking is free.

Had a lovely stay, ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent. Excellent choice for breakfast this morning. Would have been 5 stars but the superior king room was in need of updating
