Where is Bonnet and Sons?

🏠 38 Huntriss Row, Scarborough YO11 2EF

"Bonnets & Sons was established in 1880 by Louis Bonnet and was bought by the present owners family in 1959. Bonnets have a Cafe downstairs with outside courtyard seating and a table service restaurant upstairs. Our food is all homemade, traditional British cuisine, made using the finest local ingredients. Bonnets stock a large variety of different chocolates, novelties and biscuits, of which a number of these are still made in our original on site Chocolate Factory. All of our cakes and pastries are also homemade in our original on site bakery. We also offer a selection of Scones freshly baked each morning."

Good choice of drinks served by friendly staff. Only had cake to eat, which was excellent, but see others eating meals which also looked good

Had a lovely afternoon tea with lovely service even though they were short staffed. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the chocolate. It was salted caramel but I couldn't taste the caramel just lots and lots of salt.

·

Friendly cafe serving a large range of drinks and cakes. Relaxing atmosphere with cosy tables. Also has a selection of hand made chocolates and edible gifts.

·

The best cream tea I have had in very long time. Great chocolate too.

I always visited this place with my late Mum, she lived it. I had the cheese scones which we used to have and they were just as delicious. We had Coffee which for our personal taste was a bit too strong, so best to ask for half a shot if you don't like it too strong. We could not sample any meals I think due to restrictions, but all in all this is as it always was a lovely little cafe.

I don't normally post reviews but i need to put one for bonnets. i come here all the time with my mum and dad when were in town; it always has great service; very friendly staff (and delicious scones). I came here a-lot as a child obviously it was bound to have changes over the years, sadly due to Covid-19 it changed even more, BUT it's still one of my favourite places in town, always has had a great atmosphere! you can't beat their hot chocolates either.

The food in the cafe is beautiful, my husband always has the smoked haddock chowder when on special. The staff are lovely, always polite they have an upstairs aswell as down its a little old fashion but warm and friendly, it reminds me of tea rooms years gone by lol they make their own chocolates which are heavenly and sell them as you go into the cafe always go when in Scarborough. enjoy

Very good meal but a little bit expensive. Polite staff. The chocolates look good. A free sample with your coffee might encourage sales.

Went for lunch with ex-step mother-in-law and daughter for lunch. I didn’t try the chocolates but they looked very good, as did the large selection of cakes. I had the steak pie with new potatoes and veg and it was delicious. Nice and hot and just like home made. A main course was £10.95 which is a bit pricey but well worth it. For another £3 you could add a starter or dessert which made it good value, but I was full. The decor is a little old fashioned, but the place was clean and the staff were very friendly. Nice to find an independent place to eat in a world of fast food chains. Central location too. Would definitely recommend
