Just had a meal here so ignore my room rating. They have a "rough" bar to the rear where dogs are catered for. The front restaurant is reserved as a dog free alternative which i thought was a good compromise. Food was very nice, well cooked and fresh. Serving staff were a little inexperienced and appeard nervous. Would I visit again? Yes.

The hotel was big and friendly.if you are not staying you need to book a table. Food was tasty and a huge selection at breakfast. Stayed in what was called a suite which was spacious and had both a bath and shower. Good base to see the area

Popped in for lunch. Absolutely gorgeous food. The place had a lovely friendly atmosphere and dogs are allowed. Would definitely come back. Lovely little find.

Food was fabulous, had a large amount which was more than enough and couldn't then face a dessert on my own, if other half wasn't stuffed as well would have been happy to share one.His lamb was perfectly cooked and will be tempted to have this next time we visit.Lovely place, well sited if staying local, we were just up the road at wykeham Grange farm at the shepherd huts, it's a long walk back up so we drove this time.

Had a 2 night stay at the hotel and it was a nice break. Rooms might be ready for updating but are still OK and clean. Food was good, and location spot on, some fabulous walks close by!

Lovely experience of a 2 night stay with afternoon tea. It is close enough to several seaside towns so is a good base for sight-seeing around Scarborough etc. The room was very clean and the bed and pillows sooo comfortable. The bar is cosy and friendly and the meals looked amazing! We were over-whelmed bythe afternoon tea but happily they offered a box to take away the cakes we couldn't eat. Will definitely be staying there again when in the area.

Stayed at a local caravan site and this wonderful place was just 5 minutes walk, our first visit was just for a few drinks and they are at a reasonable price, our 2nd visit 26 /03/22 we had food I chose Scampi and it emwas tasty and plentiful, my partner had the Hunters chicken again the plate came out full she told me it was the best she as had in a long while, the chicken was cooked perfect and the bacon had no fat again so much she could not finish it ( left the chips ).The staff on both our visit have been exceptional, friendly helpful and happy in their work well done 👏

Had a lovely nights stay at The Downe Arms. Room was a decent size and we had a good night's sleep. The view across the village is lovely. The food was delicious especially the steak pie! Warm and friendly staff were brilliant. Will stay there again.
