Quite simply the best fish and chips in Yorkshire. We come to Whitby four times a year and always eat here. The quality is first class, the portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. James and his team are friendly and welcoming. Can't rate them highly enough.

We stayed at the fabulous Alum House glamping who recommended these fabulous fish and chips! Really did not disappoint, not greasy at all and lovely crispy batter! Perfect 👌

Called in on a very good recommendation. Just simply the best fish, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce I've had in a long time. The establishment has a large well lit dining area, spotlessly clean, pleasant staff ,there is a take away service and a small car park.I would highly recommend you pay a visit to this establishment.

Had fish and chips here the other evening. Have to say the best fish and chips in the area by a country mile! Very reasonably priced too. Proper chip shop chips, seriously good!! Now my favourite place to eat when in the area. Keep up the good work guys!

Decided to try the takeout . Haddock and chips and peas and a Fishcake bun where ordered. Friendly staff and not too long a wait. The takeout is operated from a side door and you wait outside for your order, with the main restaurant being another door which is good in these times. Not had a long wait and took the food home. Haddock was nice and no skin. The haddock could have been a a tad larger ,but none the less was tasty and fresh. Chips where nice and hot and just right. Peas where a little bland, but this could be due to my tastebuds enjoying different peas at home. The only let down was the fishcake, as was expecting a home made one or one with at least batter on it and not bread crumbs. Same again this is personal preference. All in all would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Had fish and chips here with friends on Sun 27:Feb. Pleased to say that they were top notch, a good portion too and excellent service.

The only vegan thing I could get was chips, no potato scallops. Got them specially cooked in vegetable oil. Probably the worst chips I’ve ever had. No salt or vinegar, all pale and bland, they needed another 5 minutes in the fryer. Even smothered in tomato sauce they were horrible. My husband like his fish though.

Ordered takeaway to collect due to covid. Lovely white flaky fish and chips - with curry sauce. Great size portions.

We couldn't park in the main town so navigated to this fish and chip cafe. There was very convenient on-site parking and the interior is light and airy with clean toilets. It's a comprehensive menu with good fish selection and ok pricing.I had a haddock with chips and mushy peas and unfortunately the fish batter was hard at the edges and inside the fish texture was dry and over-cooked. This fish should be moist and readily flake but it was just over-cooked and not enjoyable. My 3 other friends had similar issues. The chips, by contrast, could have benefitted from 2 or 3 minutes more cooking. The potatoes were not a particularly good flavour. Finally, the mushy peas were nice and mushy in texture - not just processed peas - but again, the flavour wasn't good. It didn't seem they had been cooked with enough salt and whilst this can be added, it's not quite the same as having been cooked from the start properly seasoned. It may have just been a bad day for then, but really there were a few too many fairly basic things wrong with our meals - sorry.
