Stopped in here for a quick dinner after a wee day in Whitby and it's such simple food but it's absolutely delicious. Proper home cooked meal feeling, the gravy is nice and thick and the pies are full to the brim with filling!I got the steak and ale and it was delicious and there are plenty of flavours to pick from, even vegetarian pies.Highly recommended!

Excellent food, the best pies and what can I say about the bread and butter pudding? An absolute treat. Please give this wonderful place a try when in Whitby, you won't regret it ☆☆☆☆☆

Rustic old school feel eatery. Homemade satisfying food just as described. Decent portions, delicious and well priced. If your looking for an alternative to Fish and Chips in Whitby, this is your place.

Very nice,, found this on a Sunday trying to get a roast dinner which is impossible in Whitby, so tried here it was lovely my pie was really nice proper mash and mushy peas, quaint old style little cafe.

I’ve just eaten humble pie and I liked it! A traditional pie and mash shop selling delicious home cooked pie and mash. There are a great range of pie from traditional steak and kidney through to plant based ones. They offer a good cuppa of Yorkshire tea to wash it all down. We weee going to have desert but we’re too full.

One of the cosiest places in town with some delicious pies and an amazing collection of antique finds. The fireplace deserves a separate mention, as it perfect for grey days.

We tried sampling the Pie and mash for lunch on a Friday. The shop is small but creates a great atmosphere. There are six tables available with about twenty seats. The owners have created an old feeling restaurant, time travelling to yesteryear. Service is quick but relaxed. If you want a pie, there is a twenty minute wait. This isn't a problem and well worth the cooking time. The are about twelve different flavour of pies including three vegetarian options. You can just have a pie or with mash and mushy peas. The food is hot and tasty. Prices are worth it along with the wait. The waitress is friendly and talkative. Wheelchair access is unlikely due to the type of building it is. Toilet area is small. Well worth the visit for its quirkiness and historical content. 👍

What a lovely find! One of the oldest houses in Whitby, steeped in history and serving excellent pies and tea. Loved it! Thank you to the team for your excellent hospitality too.

Without doubt one of the best pies my wife and I have eaten! Great crust, lovely gravy, tender beef and pieces of kidney. The young waitress is brilliant, welcoming and efficient. Sadly not enough room for dessert.

Oh wow what an amazing little gem. A must when in Whitby! I'm not a big fan of pies unless done to perfection and this place delivers 100%. The pastry is fresh, crisp and doesn't get soggy. I had beef and ale pie and the filling was delicious. We also tried pork and cider and chicken and leek which were also very tasty. My kids said the pies were the best they ever tasted. The atmosphere in this little place is another experience. There is a history about the building and you will feel like you stopped in 1940s.The hosts are super friendly and welcoming. If there was an option for 10 stars I would give it .
