Penny Hedge in Scarborough

We had a 3 night stay to visit Whitby and the surrounding area. A lovely little place to stay, clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast at a reasonable price. The added bonus of a pub/restaurant on site made things easy too. Check in and out was quick and efficient and the staff were all lovely. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Have recently spent a week here. The accommodation was well serviced and was adequate. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Had 2 meals in the restaurant and were pleased with the food which was tasty. Would highly recommend

The Penny Hedge is away from Whitby town centre (about 20 mins walk or a very short drive), but that suits us. The staff couldn't help enough and the rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had our evening meal, breakfast and drinks here and enjoyed them all. I would 100% recommend this place.

Camper stopover. Friendly staff and good food. Only 2 spots available and, I think it's first come, first served so walked into Whitby (downhill) and bus back. Leaving tomorrow, 2 night stopover. Food excellent and have dog friendly tables available, booking these tables in advance is helpful

Nice clean room, good food, good amount of parking, lovely little play area for young kids. The hotel and restaurant were good, the staff were amazing! So helpful and friendly, always had a smile. We felt so welcome it was a brilliant atmosphere. When we come back to Whitby this will be were we stay without a doubt, because of the fantastic service.

A very welcoming staff - told very busy in the restaurant but they would fit us in as we are staying at the hotel. This was a very nice touch as we ate there and the found was very nice and a nice drink selection. Room was very clean and tidy just what you need when away from a night or short break and to finish of the breakfast was ace best poached eggs I’ve had in a long time.David and Sarah young

Went in for Sunday dinner. Got menu and chose roast pork and roast beef only to be told these weren't available. Ended up with roast chicken. Filled the plate with so much that they forgot the roast potatoes!People sitting close by were looking at the menu and we heard them trying to order roast beef or pork and being told these were off the menu after they had sat for 10 minutes deciding what to eat.I don't understand why the waitress didn't tell them when giving out the menus!Of course they soon ran out of roast chicken 😂😂The food we had wasn't bad just too much.They just need to get there food orders sorted out.No Sunday roast by 6:30 in the evening!At least tell the waiting staff to let the customer know!

Fantastic location to explore Yorkshire for a week. Rooms were clean and perfectly functional. Food in the pub was consistently good with a great choice. Breakfast was great, again with a wide selection of options. Nicola took fantastic care of us every morning at breakfast and made us feel warmly welcomed. Loved our stay and will be back. Thank you so much.

Couldn’t fault the service from the minute we arrived. Our room wasn’t quite ready when we arrived as the locks on the doors were being changed and it had taken longer than expected, the staff explained the situation and we waited in the comfy pub with a free drink whilst the staff frequently checked to see if our room was ready. Room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Service for food for both evening meal and breakfast was excellent, the staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of choice on the menu and the food was excellent

All the staff we came into contact with were so friendly and helpful. The place was ideally situated close to Whitby centre, great parking, lovely clean room with everything we needed and we enjoyed both meals (evening meal and breakfast) that we had in the pub. I will definitely be staying here again in the future.
