Booked the room with four post bed for a night away from work and reality. The room was very large, warm and spotlessly clean. A bit dated but its a country pub, not a boutique and very well priced. Lovely and quiet at night being at the back of the pub. Great view of the surrounding farmland too.The bar is well stocked and has staropramen on draught so absolutely no complaints. Fire was very cosy on a wet and stormy night.Ate in the restaurant and staff were very efficient. Food was very tasty and plenty of it. I chose the scampi and my wife had the Barnsley chop, both delicious. All in all really enjoyed our stay, we would recommend a stay or a stop off.

The food here was amazing !! Quality dining . A choice of 3 areas to dine restaurant, lounge with log fire or bar. If you dine here you are in good company , the pub is actually owned by the Duchy of Lancaster and were joined by the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh for lunch .The occasion was marked by a large photograph of Her majesty and a case contains the menu, pen she signed the visitor book with etc. The chairs they sat on are to one side with a Q and a P on the back legs to show who sat where. The overnight accommodation was either in rooms above the pub or a little annexe. We were in the latter. All mid cons and an excellent stay .
