The business employs people on a trial basis and expect employees to work for free in that time. I think its disgusting that any business can legally do this by taking advantaged of people especially the young. Scarborough is a small town and word gets ariound how they treat staff

Enjoyed a nice drink here with my family before heading home I went to go to the toilet. I was greeted with we are closed outside but when I asked for the toilet I was then tutted at and told upstairs rudely. On coming down the young girl was mopping and I said oh sorry I don't like stepping on your hard work. The rude lady then said don't worry shes made a mess of it Im making her do it again. The young girl looked upset. I felt her pain I would hate for my boss to speak to me like that and as a previous manager myslef I wouldn't dream of embarrassing my staff like that infront of a customer. Hope the customer service here improves!

They don’t serve food between 11:30 (breakfast menu ends) to 12:00 (lunch menu begins). We ordered a BBQ pulled pork and melted cheese but the bread had mould on it. The staff was unapologetic and did not seem to know what to do most of the time. One of our drinks was past it’s best before date by six months but I was told that it was not expired and it’s fine to drink. The food was meant to come with tortilla chips however both orders didn’t come with any. When we approached the staff, they said that they were unsure and gave us fries instead and told us that the tortilla chips are an upgrade even though on the menu, the fries are meant to be the upgrade (very confusing but we got free upgrade I guess). Overall, the food was not fresh, out of date and the staff manager was unprofessional and rude.

Standing at the outside hatch waiting to be served as stated on the menu clearly doesn't appear to be working. 3 or 4 people inside clearly didn't serve or want our money. Perhaps I should have requested service? However I did follow the guidelines on the menu. Needless to say we walked away after 5 minutes to a side street with excellent service.

Just visiting Scarborough and was looking for somewhere for breakfast. Found The Cat’s Pyjamas, and it’s a very lovely building and setting. I was disappointed by the food and presentation though. I thought the Avocado and Halloumi on toast sounded very nice. I expected the toast to come buttered with a presentation of avocado and halloumi on top, and perhaps some relish to help make it look presentable and appetising. What I got instead was a stack of unbuttered toast (although butter portions were supplied) with two slices of halloumi on top of each other on the side. Then half an avocado had been plonked on top of the halloumi, still resembling half an avocado, but just sliced. What pushed me over the edge though was the fact that the avocado was blackened in parts. I took it back and explained this and after a wait my plate was returned looking very similar, but just with the avocado chopped and the black bits taken out. Some of the blackness was still present. I ate the dish and the halloumi and toast were good, although the black parts of the avocado did ruin the experience. To top it off I went to the loo to wash my hands and there was no soap in the soap dispenser. Shame because it’s a lovely place! Please just think about presentation.

Not a bad place for your fish and chips. My only complaints would be that they were a bit over priced for the portions they provided and the taste of the food was a bit bland. For a seaside resort this should be addressed. Apart from that, I enjoyed every bit.

Very nice building but the attitude of staff is something of concern. I went for a coffee with my girlfriend and 2 year old.We put our pram behind a door so we could sit inside. When ordering our drinks we got told to put our pram outside. So we promptly left never to return. We have lived in Scarborough all our lives and this level of treatment is unacceptable.

Not one for complaining but the quality of the food compared to the price is very poor.I understand that businesses need to make a profit but we feel very let down with the what seemed to be extremely cheap food.We ordered the full English breakfast and the staff were very friendly and everything was clean and well presented just let down by the quality of food.

What a fantastic find. Stumbled on it when on visit to Scarborough yesterday (15/4/22) food was really lovely I had fish and chips. The best I've had in awhile. Husband had burger he really enjoyed it. We also had a pina colada and a strawberry daiquiri both enjoyed them. Would highly recommend to anyone. Looking forward to go back

Came for a prosseco brunch with my mum!Food was lovely and arrived shortly after arriving, was made to feel very welcome by the staff even after a mishap with the times! The prosseco is outstanding and high quality… arrived with a lovely sea view, while we drink and listen to music and get warm!

Had a nice toasted sandwich and a pint of Scarborough IPA very nice. Friendly staff very nice venue, waited nearly 1 hour for food after ordering though. They may have been short staffed, although I don't know if that's the reason.
