Appalling. Booked for teatime. Soft drinks were out of a can, no ice offered. All chose our food, got to the bar to order to discover at least 60% of the menu was unavailable. At no point were we told this was the case, which would have been polite. When the food arrived it was poor. Very, very poor. My mash was bland and lumpy, carrots and peas were tinned....but the lamb shank - no red wine tasted at any point, tough, burnt, like trying to cut through and eat an old boot. No one came to check how our meals were either.I understand the delivery hadn't turned up, fair enough. But to not let us know was not very professional. And I haven't even mentioned the multiple cobwebs and dead spiders in every conceivable corner/window frame!!

Excellent food and welcoming staff. Unfortunately this was overshadowed by the cost and condition of the room.We stayed one night off season and paid ÂŁ65 this was room only no breakfast or any kind of discount on an evening meal. The room itself was tidy but showed signs of disrepair, the window wouldn't shut properly the carpet needed a good vacuum, we had some things attatch themselves to our feet,The en-suite was ok but the drains stank really bad and I mean BADWe found three obvious hairs one long brown one in the shower tray that we could see from the loo a similar one on the tiled wall near the door to the en-suite and one short and curly one in the bed before we had slept in it.

Stayed this summer, it was fine. Nothing fancy or anything, a bit tired in places, but just fine for what we needed. Staff were nice, food was OK.

Absolute disgrace, we booked a room for last weekend. When we arrived we were told by the woman booking us in that there had been a double booking and we were now going in a caravan in the car park. We weren’t happy but thought we wouldn’t let it spoil the weekend. We stayed and had a few drinks in the pub before going across to the caravan. What a shock! Not only did it have no running hot water as the gas boiler had been isolated but it was filthy. The carpets hadn’t even been vacuumed and were covered in hair and bits of food. The service sticker on the boilers last service was 1999 which is illegal. We went to find the manger but the pub had been closed and no one around to complain to. We decided to leave and posted the keys through the pub door. When we got back we notified the owner via the Airbnb app. We received one message from him stating the accommodation was good.Since we have heard nothing more. This is awful customer service and I understand the accommodation has now been removed from Airbnb. No matter who you book through be careful with this establishment. If you are not bothered about cleanliness and hygiene then carryon and book this den of iniquity.

Cannot fault the food. Really good and served piping hot. However; there were quite a few items sold out on the menu which is fair enough but there was nothing to tell us this was the case.As I said, the food was good but not so much that I'd be willing to wait an hour for it again in a pub that was by no means busy. This place should be a little goldmine situated where it is but the owners really need to get to grips with the speed of service.Although I'm a regular visitor to this part of Yorkshire I won't be going back to The Dotterel anytime soon.

Have been coming here for some 35 years and it's nice to see it still here if not quite in the shape it was on my first visit thanks to the bypass . Food was good standard and reasonably priced . Lovely friendly couple at the helm . Only small criticism would be choice of lager . Not a fan of fosters or Carling (only ones available on draught) which just left bottles that tends to be an expensive pint .Otherwise have no doubt we will return .*There is a small tourer field at the back too for anyone who has one .

Visited for the first time 2 weeks ago and again yesterday (19.6.21) on both occasions lunch was lovely. Served quickly by very friendly staff. This place is fast becoming our favourite place to stop for lunch when having an afternoon drive through the countryside. I'm sure there will be another visit soon.

Perfect little camp site, with clean shower & Toilets.Despite the bad reviews for food we couldn’t Fault it at all!! £5 discount Voucher per night to be spent on food/drinks! £20 per night camping and I really cannot Fault it. At all. Will 110% be coming back in the coming weeks. Staff were also very very friendly, and even delivered food to the tent!10/10 from all us!!Hope the new owners manage to keep it going as it’s a lovely place! Please do look past the bad reviews!!!Very child friendly !!! And dog friendly

This pub has become one of our regular haunts! We are well known now by Tilly the waitress/barmaid who knows we have come in for the brilliant lasagne! She often jokes that they've sold out........lol.The prices are reasonable & portions are good too. We are always made to feel welcome & our doggies are too, which is a real bonus in a holiday area. They do serve desserts which are also well priced, I had a lovely banoffee cheesecake with ice cream......scrumptious!UPDATE......This pub has now closed down.Further update......under new management...2019.

Great food and very reasonable prices. I had the biggest burger they did with 2 other main meals a kids meal and a sharer starter. We all had drinks and it came to just over ÂŁ50. Everything tasted fantastic
