Lovely looking village pub with outdoor seating in the well kept front garden. Dog friendly and parking to the rear.

Lovely little country pub/restaurant, the bar area allows dogs and had a beautiful old hearth and fire going, which was just what we needed after coming in out of the blustery weather. Great atmosphere and fantastic food, warm and welcoming. Definitely coming back!

We were warmly welcomed in the pub by what seemed to be the owner. Enjoyed a drink by the fire in the bar area which was lovely. Although the atmosphere was generally pleasant, the food was underwhelming and overpriced. We’re not allowed to order starters and mains altogether. Won’t be back. Dog friendly.

We were recommended this pub for the food, but this post of the experience was disappointing. The good points were that the Staff were friendly and the pub comfortable with lovely real fires. The food was standard, but the chips were over cooked, the salads wilted, etc. We definitely weren’t blown away, but this might have been because they were understaffed due to COVID. One point to make is they don’t have vinegar on the premises under any condition.

Very welcoming and great atmosphere. Perfect county pub. The food was excellent and so was the service. Best meal I have had in a very long time!

My family of five recently booked to have dinner at this pub.My daughter asked if she could have two starters instead of a main (something she has done in countless restaurants and pubs before). We were told that this was impossible and that any starter had to come out before the mains. Although we thought this was a little pedantic my daughter said to bring hers and that she wouldn't mind eating it cold when our mains arrived a little later. Not possible we were informed! We were told our mains would not be served until her plates had been removed !!We all thought that this was utterly ridiculous, as did other patrons on nearby tables. Then things spiralled into a sketch worthy of Faulty Towers ....the chef appeared, shaking like a leaf and hysterically informed us that we had to have our meals exactly as they said or we could leave .Naturally we chose the latter. Instead we went to The Stables and had a very enjoyable evening. And of course my daughter requesting two starters was no problem whatsoever.So if you visit the Weatsheaf for a meal, you have been warned... ( unless you want to have a laugh, then ask for two starters, I dare you !!!!) :)

Really impressed with the holiday cottage and with the pub. We were a party of 6 adults, very well looked after by Nigel and Elaine. Food excellent, thanks to you both. Would love to come again but South Dorset is a very long way....

Enjoyed Thursday lunch at the wonderful Wheatsheaf Inn Egton, divine food, ambience and value for money. Top notch and from someone who has eaten 5* Michelin throughout the world over 30 years l know good food. This place is exceptional.

The pub is very nice in the bar area, the chef is a really nice guy and good st what he does but is a one man band. The breakfast area isn't anyway tidy. Milk still in a plastic bottle on a small table, no salt or pepper on the tables, no bin to put your empty cereal boxes away just piled up with empty Weetabix rappers on the small table landlady nowhere to be seen. Prob small issues to some but not here even though Covid is still an issue. It's worth spending that little bit extra elsewhere, The chef here really needs more and better support from the landlady who at times looks like she on the pop leaving the chef to do the grafting, not very nice...
