Good fish and chips. Pleasant staff.

·

Good size portion and nice chips.

·

Went in the other day and saw a fight. Some poor Cod got battered all over the Plaice.Chips were also great.

·

The piece of haddock was very thinly cut, which was a big disappointment as I'd been looking forward to having fish and chips all week long.

·

lovely food,bt had no curry sauce🤯🤯😳 how can you have no curry at 12 oclock on monday afternoon!!!

·

Fantastic chippy, lovely, friendly and professional staff. Generous portions and great value. Fish and Yorkshire fish cake delicious 😋

·

Lovely little chippy. Well worth the wait. A mammoth sized chunky cod with crispy batter, price a little steep but you get what you pay for.

·

Very expensive for such a small piece of cod! Poorly wrapped (way too tight!) Ended up a soggy mess of batter after 5 minute drive home. Fish cake ordered by the wife also tasted like it was somewhat past its best. This place used to be great and I've been coming here for 38 years, however, it now falls way behind other places like two steps and new cod on the block, which are much nicer and waaay better value for money!

Moved from Brighton 6 weeks ago and came to the abbey Friar for my Dinner after work, it was convenient as I work just off Abbeydale road. My landlord spoke highly of this place so I gave it a try. Food was brilliant and reasonably priced (whether that’s because I’m used to paying Brighton’ extortionate prices I’m not sure). Took a hell of a wait as the shop was completely full but worth it, no doubt I’ll be binge eating here for the next few weeks. Yet to try others but a great traditional chippy👍

All the food is good and the portions of fish are massive too massive and massively expensive. There's all ways a wait so make sure you get your order in as soon as you get in the shop, don't get to the front and then order something they have to cook. The menus good staff friendly but get someone else to pay
