We have just been for the first time to the Cross Pool Tavern. The food took quite a while to come but it was definitely worth the wait, as it was amazing, couldn't fault the portion sizes and freshness. The guy serving us was very helpful and polite and the chocolate brownies were fantastic. I also thought it was really good value for money so I would highly recommend it.

Came in at 12.15 on Sunday, mash was like concrete, grey looking and no check back at the table to see if our meals were to our satisfaction. Food at this place has really gone down hill, pigs in blankets weren't worth the money as they looked like they'd been put through a cremation chamber and can only imagine from the taste I experienced it was like I was chewing down on lumps of charcoal. The young lady behind the bar was polite enough so had no qualms with her.

Food was nice and service pretty good. However - why does there have to be a TV playing sport in every corner?People come to a pub like this primarily for food - in groups, to come and talk. TV destroys conversation.Save electricity and switch it off

Dylan was fabulous! We really enjoyed our meal. He was very helpful when I asked about gluten free options too.

Lovely carvery for Sunday lunch. Some decent drinks on offer and reasonably priced. The beef was delicious. More cheese with the cauliflower please 👍

Was really disappointed, pub is really tired looking, ladies toilets was swimming in water this didn’t fill us with confidence for the food. None of the drinks where available on the Festive menu and you could tell the vegetables on the carvery had all been out for a very long time, the roast potatoes where rock hard and you needed a knife to cut the gravy. Not many people in on the weekend before Christmas and we understood why ! It’s a shame because it used to be a great pub with a great reputation.

Been today for lunch, won't be rushing back. No pizzas or burgers due to a staff shortage. Only option was carvery. Beef was all fatty. My husbands fish was swimming in grease and the chips burnt, also very bland. Went to use ice cream machine and handle fell off. The ice cream from the machine was all melted and sloppy! One pudding came to us wrong and the excuse was that the chef didn't have his glasses on! Good job we had no allergies. This was promptly changed. Disappointed

Nice pub. The building is nice and spacious with clean, modern furniture. Good choice of hot and cold food to eat, and plenty of lagers on tap. I was slightly let down by the lack of craft beers. 15 taps but not a single IPA it's disappointing in a pub this size.

This is a nice looking pub with friendly and helpful staff, and it looked clean/hygienic. Has seating outside in the shade which is nice on a hot sunny day. Unfortunately can't recommend the food based on my experience. Got the carvery ham sandwich thinking it would be freshly cooked meat and hot, but it was the chewiest sandwich ever. Some meat was so tough it wasn't edible, and there wasn't much to start with. Even the bread was chewy which was odd. Bread came plain even though advertised with mustard (staff brought a pot of it when I asked). It came with a plate of standard boiled veg. The person I was with got the beef sandwich, this was better than the ham but again served lukewarm and plain. The chips were nice. This chain does have an online allergen menu which is really helpful
