Great food and location but limited by outdoor eating at present

You can get basic tea/instant coffee/hot choc etc. here. They sell some alcohol cider/beer/cocktail. The menu is mainly cake and ice cream. Sometimes they have more of a lunch menu. They have started offering gluten free cake options, but unfortunately no vegan or dairy free and not even alternative milk for tea.The restaurant remains closed and there is no indoor service or seating at the moment, and the cafe isn't always open the stated hours. There is some outdoor seating with brollies. In the summer the wisteria on the curator's house is flowering which is lovely

Lovely scone. Coffee was a bit weak. Good choice of ice cream.

We just had coffee and scones but enjoyed them in the beautiful setting.

This cafe was a real letdown to our visit to the botanical gardens. We ordered two hot drinks and a piece of cake each. The order was swift, and the staff were friendly, so that gets it two stars. However, the hot drink was made of instant coffee, to which I had a mouthful of granules from the bottom of the cup. As for the cake, it’s got to be one of the worst I've had. It was so dry that it cut like a solid block and was chewy; there was no flavour, and it had fallen to pieces on the plate (disappointing that they served it that way, or at all). The other observation was their outdoor bin; we couldn't put our waste in it as it overflowed over the floor. Save your money and try somewhere else that doesn't charge Starbucks prices for stale cake and instant coffee!

Quality coffee and food. They also serve milkshakes, smoothies, ice cream and snacks. Service is bit slow: it's okay if you're just having a chill walk and want something to eat/drink but not ideal if you want to grab coffee quickly. I miss the indoor seating and service, which was very enjoyable. It's now only outdoor seating, disposable packaging and self service (19/6/2021).

Dropped in here after a wander through the gardens. It is a tea room but the menu including the specials board gives a good and interesting choice. We only had a snack but the coffee and tea was served to our table. I had a scone with jam which was fresh and perfectly acceptable, my partner had a slice of ginger loaf which he declared to be excellent, I had to taste it and had a small piece, it was lovely and moist and absolutely delicious.

Lovely banana milk shake. Nice, but cafe,s popularity makes for glacial service.

The setting is great and it's just off the main entrance to the glorious botanical gardens and there is plenty of space to sit outside and soak up the Autumnal vista on a warm October day. However, when we visited the staff were juggling preparing for a function and dealing with customers. Sadly, when we ordered 'fresh lemonade' we were charged £6 for two glasses of lemonade. This might have been ok if it was lemonade, however it was suspiciously similar to diluted juice. When we questioned this we were instantly refunded without question. Thumbs up for being dealt with promptly and listened to. But what if we hadn't mentioned it.... It's the first time we've been there so will be giving it a second chance.

The almond tart and macha green tea latte are very good match and so do the taste. The staff is very helpful and friendly as well. Highly recommend.
