Wow spot on chippy, had the cod & chips. Crispy batter, perfectly cooked fish and great tasting chips.

Was looking forwards to our order, having had good reviews, but I found the chips to be reheated from the dinnertime, the fish my wife had was lovely as were the mushy peas, my chicken kebab was the smallest ive ever had, it was pitiful.and at £6.30 was very overpriced.

When we arrived we were waiting outside due to corvid regulations. we thought that's ok, fish and chip shops are quick in's and out's, but not this place. we were outside waiting for 15 mins, then when we finally got served we were told it was cash only (their was no signs stating this) and were told to go to an ATM which luckily for us I drive and could get to one quick. they told us our food would be ready when we return, so we thought no problem. Upon our return food was not ready, but she served us as soon as she realised, but my partner still had to flag her attention as the crowd waiting to be served was getting bigger with students joining the fray. in total we had been there about half an hour which depending on your opinion, to us is long for a chippy in Sheffield.The food was alright but was pretty bland to other chippy's we have been to in northern Sheffield. And was a tad expensive for what you were getting.We will not be returning personally, hopefully they manage to find a way to increase customer service speed

Only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because of the price now. I used to be a regular there and now the prices have gone bananas. There food is delicious but I can't justify spending four quid on a bag of chips anymore than I can over 6 quid for a fish, it's then a tenner a person and that's crazy.

Gave up after queuing for half an hour during which time only 2 people actually got served ahead of me.Instead there was a constant stream of bulky pre orders and delivery drivers being served.Understand the attractions of online orders especially at the present time but if you want to bill yourself as a traditional fish and chip shop you need to value people who order on site too.Plenty of staff in, only one lady doing much packaging. Surely you can have one person doing pre orders and another dealing with the actual queue?Still give it 2 stars as managed to get served in a previous era and the food was good.

2016Lovely fresh fish, that you order on arrival or telephone order in advance. The best fish I have had from a fish shop in Sheffield! Lovely chips too. Lovely fresh white fish and cooked to order. Great fresh, big, perfectly cooked, hot, chips and lovely mushy (proper chip shop style) peas too! Staff really friendly and helpful! Takes cash only.New Cod on the Block have been a great takeaway treat during this pandemic and deserve our support! Social distancing and masks are required and premises very clean.
