Beautifully situated a few miles from Ladybower the Strines is a great place to stop off before or after a walk or when passing through. Having been an Inn for over 200 years the Strines is rightly proud of it's history. For us, as vegans, the menu was limited but we did enjoy a pint and a bowl of chips. The Strines would have picked up another star if the range of food and drinks were broader I.e. some vegan options and an IPA (beer choices were solid but traditional). To get 5 stars a bit of attention to the interior decor and options of walks from the pub would help.Summary: a great place to stop in with an interesting history.

If your looking for a oldie worldly, then this is the place for you. Log fires and a warm inviting atmosphere awaits you. Very pleasant staff who go out of their way to help you, food that’s to walk here for, let alone drive. ( Have the giant Yorkshire, you won’t be disappointed.) Dogs are also welcome and it all makes for a very pleasant time for a few hours.Oh and don’t forget to check out the peacocks round the back, a surprise we weren’t expecting.

Beautiful old pub with bags of character but sadly the food didn't live up to this. Veggie option is a giant Yorkshire pudding which I'm pretty sure wasn't homemade, filled with bland veg- frozen peas, flavourless carrots & swede and roast spuds that had no crispness whatsoever. Over £10 for what tasted like a school dinner. All puddings had sold out. Service was chaotic and had to remind staff what we'd ordered when it came to settling the bill and ask multiple times for sauces. Next time definitely drinks only!

Food reviews looked good but we were a little disappointed. Ordered roast dinners. Yorkshire puddings was just frozen type, and had just 2 XL roast potatoes on plate that were hardly crispy. Plate swimming in gravy. Service was good however.

Awesome proper, quintessential British pub in the heart of the peaks. Massive amount of charm, great freindly service, and very accomodating. Highly recommended going just for the astonishing views and charm. Just a brilliant place. Will be back again.

An impromptu visit to The Strines today and a lovely lunch enjoying the warmth of a roaring fire. We timed it well as most tables were booked and the pub was starting to get busy. Lovely non pretentious pub food, well presented and so so good. A lovely friendly young team of staff. Highly recommended but if you want food on a weekend I would recommend booking in advance.

A welcomed meal and a lovely pint greeted us from a long hike. Excellent service by very polite well trained young staff. The food was very well cooked and very plentiful. Probably the best coffee I've had for age's.

First time visit for a Sunday lunch, the pub wasn't full or even busy but we had been popped on a very small table touching the bar. So anyone coming up to the bar were knocking the back of the chair or their dogs would come sniffing at our table. The pub had no atmosphere and was quite So the bar staff could hear everything we were saying.Disspite that the food was hot and tasty and the service was quick, we didn't stay for a dessert due to negative things I have mentioned.Nice location, great for walker's and dog owners.
